how many fiat uno turbos were scrapped in the 2009 scrappage scheme?

My friend killed one in the 90s when the turbo exploded and dropped out the bottom of the engine bay. Another guy I knew had a 1 litre Uno and Dukes of Hazard'd it over a hump back bridge and blew out most of the windows and all the shocks. They did their part for the cause.

I'm sure people aren't completely stupid though, if those were examples that were actually worth something, they'd more than likely have sold them instead.

They were probably completely rotten, worthless heaps, with nothing of value left beyond a famous name. A bit like my Golf when it was new :p

probably true and i hope that the integrale that met its doom was of this condition too ...

I don't think they can, my dad sometimes visits one of the places where confiscated cars go to be scrapped and he says there are some absolute minters in there but nobody can touch them.

I meant the people scrapping them.

Only someone really high on the special scale, or who really really dislikes selling cars, would scrap a car for a £2000 discount if it was worth £2500+ to sell the thing.

Confiscated cars are an entirely different kettle of fish and there are probably plenty of those worth a lot of money getting scrapped.

1 bmw 2002 :(

Not sure how accurate that list is tbh, but it's still an absolute shame. I bet some decent classics did slip through; you'd be surprised how easily an old chap whose owned his bmw for 20 years could be convinced to trade it in.

It wasn't a minter but even as a shell it was worth prob £2k. To him, it was about the same he got off a new car.

Just a shame that a classic is now baked bean tins.

At least they were allowed to strip engines and drive trains out for spares but the shells had to be crushed :-(

So many classics and rare cars were scrapped, such a travesty. Around 31 Honda CRX's were scrapped and traded in for run of the mill Hyundai's, as if they weren't rare already.

NISSAN,SKYLINE GT-R,1
Escort Mexico's as well.

Some people must have had no sense, scrappers or not they are worth so much more than what was offered.
