**** Sony Xperia Z3 ****

Will check out the Z3 in the flesh on Thursday but in the meantime I will give the Z3c some time and see if I can get used to the reduction in size.

To compensate for watching multimedia during my commute I've got my hands on a Z Ultra for £240 which isn't bad going at all, considering how much it cost when it first came out.

Can someone check out if Z3's have xLoud? walkman > settings > sound effects > sound enhancements > settings > xLoud (tm).

If so, I highly recommend enabling it.

I don't use the Walkman app, PowerAmp so use sound engine form that, just had a look though:

I've also found the Smart Connect app (basically a jazzed up Tasker kind of app) useful for launching PowerAmp when Bluetooth connects to my car and going back to the homescreen when Bluetooth disconnects. Handy!

Been playing with my Z3 all day, but getting some very strange screen artifacts. At times I've had the screen flicker to a load of colourful static (only for a split second) before returning to normal. I've also just had part of my screen turn green (while another part flickered with static) before returning to normal.

Seems like I've got a bit of a broken phone :(

I'll give Handtec a call tomorrow and get a replacement arranged. Slightly annoying as I've now only got a nano sim, so can't even use my S4! Other than the seemingly slightly broken screen/screen cable I'm loving my Z3 :).

York I've used a nano sim with an S4, all about placing it right (and using a little blutack or tape to remove when it's time).

Just make sure you don't push it all the way in and you'll be fine

Smart connect seems pretty nice for a freebie, I use Llama already for that stuff. No location switching (turning GPS on/off) without root though, so I'm just leaving it on all the time since battery life isn't so much of a concern anymore

Hmm just seen this phone and the Compact as well as a bunch of others support Quick Charge 2.0 but they don't come with a Quick Charge adapter by default. Think I will look to get one for the mains and the car.

0-60% in 30 minutes vs a normal 1A charger reaching 12% in the same time or a Quick Charge 1.0 charger @ 30%.

After much waiting I've decided to go for either the Z3 or Z3 Compact. Coming from an Xperia Arc S after 3 year. Just can't decide if the Z3 is too big but the better specs I want :( The Arc S was a giant phone in its day when it first came out but got used to it within a week and realized that a bigger screen is much better. But not sure I will think the same with the Z3 since it is a monster.

What better specs, I thought the only differences were screen res (720p vs 1080p) and 3GB vs 2GB RAM? I find it hard to get excited about either res on a phone, it's such a small screen I can't see it mattering either way.

I have a note 4 preordered but I am seriously tempted to cancel for a z3. Have wanted the note 4 for months and this phone has to come out and put my plans up in the air :p The great review by mrk hasnt made my choice any easier either lol

So it comes down to nicer looking phone, stereo speakers and ps4 options or a phone with a s-pen and true multi tasking. Decisions decisions.

finding the free garmin nav was nice!

seems some people have trouble adding Great Britain maps (it defaults to vatican city for some reason..I just unticked that one and ticked the GB maps, dowloaded and restarted the app) but mine works fine..I think they just didnt understand the instructions!

and what apps was he or she running.

seriously no phone can last a whole day anymore.

It was mainly internet/facebook browsing. Watched a few vids on youtube, messed around with the camera, played music to and from work.

When I got home I installed some new apps/games from play store, copied over some photo's/videos from my old phone, did more internet/facebook browsing/whatsapp conversations and more messing around with the camera.

Battery was still at 59% when I went to bed. Thats way better than my old S3 which used to be down to around 30% after a day at work.
