Parents are still, after many weeks, in the process of having their kitchen installed by Magnet (avoid this company like the plague, by the way). During the install of their brand new Samsung dryer, one of the guys managed to put a deep scratch in the front of it, down to the metal and bending some of the vent grilles on the front.

Magnet and the company who fitted the kitchen are both aware and have been "working on a solution" which so far has amounted to them offering a can of enamel/radiator paint.

Can anyone offer up a sensible fix for this? Bending the grilles back will be awkward enough but the dent probably won't be an issue if the scratch can be repaired properly.

I['d be demanding a replacement or a manufacturer repair, they have insurance for exactly this type of thing, make them use it

Thanks all, will let the parents know that they should be asking for a replacement. They've had enough time to offer up a suitable solution and done nothing about it. The machine wasn't supplied by them however so getting the £750 out of them will be a challenge no doubt.

For what it's worth this is just one of many, many other issues/complaints currently on the go with the fitters and with Magnet and is really rather minor in comparison to some of them.

Definitely a replacement, I'd be ****ing angry if they tried to offer me a tin of paint because of their screw up!

You're the one on site. You do it. Then let your parents know what you've done. This is a standard item and if they can't get a replacement to you and fitted the next day they're having you on.

Replace the panel if you want it perfect, it'll be near impossible to repair.

In terms of repair you'd need to tap the grill back into place, grind off some more of the paint, fill it out with body filler then prime and paint the entire panel. Not worth it and not guaranteed to be perfect.

For £750 I would expect it to fold all the clothes and put them away as well! :p

It has a light inside and plays a (quickly annoying) tune when it's done, if that helps. :D

The Magnet branch manager is visiting them today so it'll be one of the many points that gets discussed, I'm sure. There isn't really much point me getting involved as well.
