Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor

Mine is due to arrive today or tomorrow - I've watched some vids and I do see a difference between the versions but the PS4 version still looks nice to me.
It may not be on par with some of the really top looking games but it still looks perfectly fine.

I think a lot of problems come down to the environment and presentation over the graphical quality though or whether it has atmoshpere.

I think Demon's Souls looks great even today - because the presentation of the areas gives the game a great atmosphere and improves the visual appeal yet the actual graphical quality is poor.
Interesting colour palets can also provide good visuals.

Shadow of Mordor isn't top tier graphics, and is also set in a pretty bleak, drab environment so that won't help much.

Looking forward to giving it a blast though. Got Destiny raids planned for weekend evenings but should be able to sink some time into this in the afternoons as I'm having a quiet weekend in this week in prep for a chaotic few weeks ahead.

My friend who I game share with on Xbox One bought this so I've basically got it for free :D

I only managed about 30 mins this morning but I like it so far, very much like Assassin's Creed in many ways, which is not a bad thing. The world feels a bit lifeless, but I guess that's the nature of the game. I'm liking the combat and I can't wait to get some more upgrades to add a bit more variety to it.

I loved the opening 15-20 mins of the game, the intro to the story and stuff. Very well done I though.

Hey guys for 1080p where should i get this, PC or PS4. Pc has a 680gtx 2GB.

I read the 30fps and got a bit meh although in destiny it didnt bother me much kinda liked it because it didnt look horrid on the vita :P

Jeez, looking at metacritic, this game is getting 10s all round, even though loads of the reviews start with 'even though there are some issues', yet it still gets a 10! Also people saying it has amazing graphics..

Then there are super low reviews like this:

The game feels like a poor Assassin's Creed rip off.

The camera is so bad that it becomes a challenge in itself. If you fight near a wall it completely goes crazy and points to random directions. It reminds me of old N64 games.

The stealth mechanics are bad. It's an open world most of the time, so the enemies just have super small sight. You can kill 3 enemies stealthly when they are all side by side and nobody notices. It's made to look like you are stealth, but in fact I think they found out that in LoTR orcs are deaf and have very poor vision. Also, there is no "go behind the wall mechanics", so when you go close to a wall, the camera focus on the wall and the controller gets clumsy (since you can't walk by the wall).

Combat mechanics are a bit better, but still clumsy. Fighting has lots of button smashing and the player moves in random directions sometimes. To compensate for the easiness of button smashing, the game throws tons of monsters at you at the same time. This changes the mechanic into: button smashing, run far from everyone (which you do faster than them anyway), wait for them to come in line, button smashing and repeat. Also, the bow mechanic is worse than Tomb Raider. The only ok point of the combat system is that you don't have to actually switch weapons (press square you use the sword, press R2/L2 you use the bow).
The open world part seems to be ok so far and the nemesis/famous orcs part works well. The respawn system is very aggressive (more than Destiny, for example). It means it is virtually impossible to get rid of all orcs in an area before killing the big guys. You kill a bunch of them, walk 15 steps, look back and there are more of them again. The only way to clear an area is killing the bug guys. It is designed like this because the fighting is very easy 1vs1.

Which will probably just get discarded as a hater because the score is so low

Got mine last night from ShopTo. It's absolutely brilliant! Can't say enough good things about it. Feels like a genuine open world game where you're constantly being distracted from the main objectives.

That review is incredibly accurate.

I have to agree as well. I don't think this game deserves all the 10/10 reviews but it's still a fun game.

Can you only interrogate enemies when you sneak up on them or killed the other enemies around him?

If you find one on it's own you can still do it. Just hold R1 to grab it.

Mine is out for delivery today from Amazon and that's with just free first class delivery. Amazon logistics take care of it.

Turns out the game special edition is the legion edition as well so get the dark ranger, captain of watch, hidden blade rune plus some extra missions and runes.

Really nice steel book case too.

Looking forward to getting home to give this a try.

Bought this one in-store as got fed up with the no show pre-orders.

Was hoping to have mine back today but hasn't turned up, Still got my hopes up as my postie seems to come at varied times. If not that's the first time I haven't had a game back from Shopto before or on the day of release.

Never mind back to Destiny for a bit.

Edit: Just turned up :D
