Dull Mens Club.

These forums used to have an unofficial Old Codgers Club (OCC).

Maybe you could rally the troops and re-establish it?

Are there any left?

A fair few.

I actually drink at one from time to time, it's pretty much on my doorstep, my great grandad used to drink there. It's £2.20 for a pint of Worthingtons original!

It's odd though, nothing will have changed since the 70's in there by the looks of it, same furniture, same wood effect tv, same jar of pickled eggs behind the bar, same blokes drinking there every night :D

You are really 60 or am i missing the point?
There was a couple of old men's clubs back in London near me... One 'Catholic' themed one and another royal British Legion - whatever it was called ( old soldiers) one. They are still fairly common in strong, working class areas.

I think they are mostly replaced by Wetherspoons these days.

many left in pit areas :p

its like going back to the 50s when you go through the door :D

Nothing wrong with my area!

Some of them are ****holes occupied exclusively by chavs though, then again the same can be said of some wetherspoons. It's the risk you take with cheap beer.

think i might have to get a tshirt just to be proud of what i am. Love it how the only tshirt colour is grey..... can't be anything too exciting

My other handle is "CaptainBland". My hobbies include staring at a computer screen for hours at a time and occasionally going for a gentle but long walk. Maybe this is my home.

i live in a heavy pit influenced area :p i didn't mean any offense if that is what the roley eyes are for :p

its true though many in my area are occupied by ex pit people.

Yeah mines all ex rail workers from before they binned the industry mostly retired now, a few factory workers and a few builders. It's not the sort of place your "nice upstanding young man" drinks but I like it, that's part of the charm it's just a good honest down to earth place.

No offense taken, I don't offend easily ;)

Edit: Just realised, I thought you meant "pit" as in dive areas, makes more sense now! I forget you lot up t' north have t' internet these days :p
