well the monitors are not an issue at under £500 pound.

But with one gtx980 only pulling around 30 fps. there is a need for 2xgtx980.

so to game at 4k people are having to shell out about £1500.

so is it just not worth the expense?

there is a rumour q1 2015 might bring a gtx 990. however knowing as we do they will expect a big bag of money for it, probably.

Any thoughts?

People love to make this claim without context. People don't *have* to spend £1500 to play games at UHD. It depends specifically on the games that you're playing, that's the bottom line.

Higher resolutions are never a bridge to far, for gaming ;)

If you want to play the latest AAA titles @ 4K , then you are probably right about spending £1500.00 on 2 x 980's and a monitor.

Is it worth it ?

A lot of people on here definitely think so...

Personally , i'm very happy at the moment @ 2560 x 1600, I might jump
onto 4K in a years time.

If you've got the money to spare and are an enthusiast, 4K is a great new toy.

As always, though, early adopters pay for the privilege. In two or three years a decent high end card will do 4K without much issue, and you'll get the upgrade for more like £700-800

Is it nice? Yes. Is it worth £1.5k if you've not got £1.5k spare? No.
