Hope this make sense.

Any ideas?

Wow just posted a new thread about this!
You in the same boat as me and I really dont know what is going on!

Do you both have the same model of TP-Link adapter? TP-Link have sold may different models of AV500 adapter so it's best to be specific.

There is/was a AV500 model that was a total dog. If you just went for the cheapest option that's what you may have.

You may just have faulty adapters. They should be under warranty.

Have you got the utility software installed? When the connection appears to drop can the utility still see the adapters?

Have you checked that the firmware is up to date?

check for new firmware on the tp link uk and .com websites. this behaviour could be the power saving function getting confused

well seems as I can't install the utility software, As I'm using win8.1 which isn't supported by Wincap...

I was able to install the tp-link utility under windows 8.1 64bit version. There is a version for it on the website I am sure. Had my pass through ones in now for over a year and are working fine still.

I think the Wincap driver is a separate thing to the utility though, you should be able to find a version that works on Win 8.1 and install it first

Been sent a replacement by Ocuk! and still having the same issue, Think I'm somehow going to have to replace the firmware, And find away past the wincap.

Aha! Mine are doing the same and I was in the process of trying out some others. The version I have is these:-
https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=NW-094-TP

Mine do randomly drop, but obtaining a new IP and just pinging the router brings them back to life. It seems more prevalent after doing something intensive such as viewing something on Netflix and then dropping back to normal browsing.

I have updated the firmware to the most current and still doesn't work.

Mine for instance right, I switched my PC off for about 3 hours, came back power PC back on and the powerline adapter just doesn't switch on. I have to physically pull it out and back in again for it to work. So I cant even ping it untill it gains power. Now it can't be the wiring as my old netgear ones seem to work fine, And this is a brand new house so wiring is perfect. Think these are going to have to go back and i'll just have to go for a refund.

This is eactly what mine are like - I have 6 nano 500, four bought at the same time in dual packs. Then we miss placed one and I bought a further dual pack.

Lastest pack the LEDs are blue, the others are green however they do occasionally die and need a restart.

Lights show sync - but data does not flow. A reboot of one or several and they kick into life. We have a brand new house and the devices they connect to are always on - desktop PC, a router, server & htpc.

Going to be dropping them soon in favour of running cables. They introduce about 5ms of latency within the home network and I only get about low throughput (8MB/sec) with SMB.

Just an update for you all, I dumped these in the end as they were driving me nuts. I went for the Netgear av500's that plug directly in the wall an maintain a plug socket.

After a week all is fine. No drop outs, no connectivity issues, nothing. They just work
