Looking for speaker recommendations for smallish space where I have a corner desk

Have now decided 2.0 is enough and have some ideas on speakers.

I need a stereo amp (haven't a clue)
And stereo speakers

Was trying to decide between the rx2, rx1, b&w 685

The speakers cannot be very far away from me unless they are positioned at +90° and - 90° to my line of sight
This would still only put them 1 or 2 feet away from my desk
The other option is to put them on top of my desk.. But that would be 1 foot above my head slightly in front of me (not ideal)

Are RX2s too much? Or are they actually just 'better' than rx1?
I have experience with MA stuff and nothing else

Unfortunately I'm a bit fussy on looks too. As much as I shouldn't be.. I am.

As good as the RX series and other Hi-Fi speakers are, they're not near field monitors. They really need a bit of distance for the dispersion from the tweeter and woofer to gel. That's not to say that they're going to sound awful; they won't. It's just they won't be working at their best across such a short distance.

There might be better choices from other brands designed for near field monitoring, and they might be active so would solve the "which amp?" and then the "were to put it?" questions too.

This is exactly the issue I thought I might have.

What is worse.
Haven't them too close out having them at about 100-110°?

That's a very good question. Have you thought about simulating the effect with your Hi-Fi speakers to test out both options?

Ruark MR1'S best desktop speaker for 2013. They don'tr need much distance from each other. Mine are 3 feet apart from each other. They say 60cm is fine for stereo sound and there the size of a pint glass and have built in A and B amp

So really I'm looking for a different type of speaker?
Those event opals.. Bit pricey lol
