okey dokey....

So i sold my GTX770 and got super money for it.....and after 10 years with my current employer.....i have been given 110 quid (will have to be an ocuk voucher) so i have a budget of 300 for a new graphics card. I know i will be stung on delivery to NI too :(

OBV....its GTX970 of some form and i am currently torn between 300 quids worth of MSI 4G, Giga G1 and EVGA SSC.

After much deliberation, i have noted that the Giga (length) and MSI (width) will JUST fit in my fractal case. EVGA obviously less of an issue.

I really dont know which to pick and do certainly appreciate that the MSI is a bit cheaper than the other 2.

Any...and all help will be appreciated peeps.

Oh...i game at 1080 and mostly play BF4.

Just to clarify.....i thought i could wait for a bit to see what the market did so i attempted to play BF4 on my onboard graphics......so now this is URGENT. FLOL!

Cheers
J

Grab yourself a MSI or Gigabyte card.

Both clock well and pretty much silent.

I have a MSI which boosts to 1500 core and 8000 memory for gaming and in BF4 with high settings averages 120 fps on a 2560x1080 monitor. Medium settings and it doesn't drop below 200fps.

Fantastic card for the price.

Having come from a 290 with Mantle I can easily say the 970 is much nicer to live with. Quieter, cooler and Mantle only worked 20% of the time for me. Even then the performance was lower than I expected. Having to run low to medium settings to get solid fps over 100.

Oh and I forgot to mention my GPU temp is around 63 degrees when gaming on the auto fan curve.

Setting it manually to something like 90% drops the temps further to 55-59 degrees when gaming. It's also still stupidly quiet at that speed.

Ok guys.....thanks for the quick replies......guess i will just hang tight for the msi (although the red offends me....lol)

delivery is a real pain though.....is there no discount for NI members on delivery? I appreciate it cant be free but anything?

Website says they are due in on Thursday (I've got two on pre-order - wouldn't be suprised if they all get taken up by pre-orders though).

In honesty....I am a green fanboi tho.....I just can't stand catalyst and have never had an issue with green

Only on smaller less bulky items. But tbf ocuk's delivery charge to here is cheaper than most other English based etailers I've used.
