Can anyone recommend any tyre insurance that can be purchased at any time (i.e. after the purchase of a vehicle)?

Are some policy providers better than others?

My Wife's used Mini Cooper S came with a warranty, which included tyres, from Warrantywise.

I took it in for 3 new tyres (one nail, two worn), and the tyre guy helpfully found a nail in one of the worn ones. Warrantywise were only (as far as I could tell) supposed to pay out a proportion of the value based on wear remaining, but they actually paid me enough to completely pay for 2 tyres, and a little toward the third - and those were £150 a corner.

No idea on tyre insurance generally, though

when i bought my approved used audi, i took out a combined tyre and wheel policy sold i think via premia solutions. covered 4 tyre replacements and 10 alloy refurbs over 3 years. had a couple of wheels repaired whilst under the policy, no problems. expect even tyres being replaced wouldnt have been any fuss.

think it was around £250 unfortunately didnt make full use of it as wife didnt inform me within the required 48 hours or whatever after she had kerbed 2 of the wheels, so couldn't claim for those.

not seen any similar policies sold anywhere else though.

Why couldn't you just lie about the date?

Or go out that evening and re-kerb them?

because they required photos etc submitting within 48hrs.

Unless you have 22inch alloys and happen to live next door to a nail and screw factory which is well renowned for having careless workers, I wouldn't bother.

I don't like taking insurance out in general, you're paying for something that might happen, in most cases I'd rather take the chance and keep the cash. I can't believe this is a thing!

Seriously... don't bother

I can't see how the insurance company could make any money from that?!

4 tyres on their own would likely cost you £3-500, never mind 10 refurbs!

I got it for free on the new BMW. Can claim for up to £250.00 a corner on tyres. Can also claim for up to 10 alloy wheel repairs max of £150.00 a go though. Basically doesn't cover you if you crack or bend the thing but scuffs will be sorted.

You didn't get it for free, they paid for it using the margin you didn't haggle off and got themselves a nice upsell bonus for it ;)

By the sounds of it, he didn't use the policy, so they took £250 off him and paid out £0..... so that's how they make money (as well as investing cash reserves, which is how a lot of insurance companies make money really).
