*** Nokia Lumia 930 ***

I have a 930 to review, it did well against the Galaxy S5 in my unscientific testing.

The speaker is particularly good I think. Camera I'm really disappointed by, especially the Front Facing camera.

WP 8.1 seems a decent upgrade over 8 too. I feel it could do with a notification light though.

Nice, just bought a 930 after years of Android, most recently HTC One X, HTC One, Note 3, and really liking it. So far, for me, I have found it a great phone.

Recently purchased a Lumia 930 and have been loving it, but my screen has started lifting away - ever so slightly - in the top left & right corners. Can hardly notice it unless you look really closely, but it plays havoc with the proximity sensor.

Screen doesn't come back on at the end of a phone call so can't hang up etc. and the double-tap to wake stops working.

If I press gently in the top-right, the problem fixes itself for a short while, but then returns later.

Luckily, I have the option to return it so it's going back - sadly, not sure if I'll get another as the screen lifting seems to be an issue with these.

It's not common. May have just been a bad batch. None of us in the office have had the issue, and we all use them (even though I've just swapped to a 735).

They do seem to be having a fair few issues with the 930s. Which isn't good with Nokia normal build quality.

And also disappointed by the camera reviews.

Stuck between this and a Z3 (compact or no, undecided).

Anything that is likely to put me off? I like the general OS (had a Lumia 720 in the past), and don't need any non-maintream apps so thats a non issue. Is the lack of Google services still a thing?

I can get this on Vodafone for £44.50, unlimited texts/calls and 7GB interwebs. Free Spotify for 24 months would mean I wouldn't need my Play music pass thing. So overall I can knock a tenner off a month.

Add in the free wireless charger and speaker and it's a pretty decent deal.

I can do without Google services, only use maps (has a replacement) and drive (has a replacement).

This is the best 4g deal I can find though.

I'm getting 930 from work next week - my choice as I could get 5c, S4, z10 or 930.

cant wait to be honest :)
Last windows phone I have been using was 7.8 on lumia 800
I have heard that it changed a lot so hopefully only for better :)

will need to look for apps etc, possibly ones Im using on my Note

The phone is cheap from GiffGaff (£339). You can buy from then on a monthly payment scheme, which works out as £13.23/month. There's no obligation to use their service either if you don't want to - just buy an unlock code and negotiate a SIM Only deal with Vodafone.

Yup, bought mine from GiffGaff @ £339......couple of weeks in and really liking it. Quite a change from years of Android, but actually finding the whole Microsoft syncing thing pretty decent.
Few apps I would like missing - Tado, NatWest Business Banking & Sonos (although Phonos is pretty decent) - but otherwise all good.
I am pleasantly surprised with the battery life, too, as that seems to be one of the things reviews comment on; coming from a Note 3, was slightly worried, but has proven to be unfounded - I have yet to run out in a day's use, so that is good enough for me!

Is it me or does the 830 look to be everything the 930 should have been ie thin/microsd/glance/wireless charging etc

Actually, it's more like the 930 didn't live up to really succeed in what the 920 was. The 830 made the progression it needs from what the 820 offered.

This is what I was thinking the other week, pretty sure I'll be getting the 830 ......... the lack of the Glance screen killed the 930 for me. Hopefully by November they'll come up with the 1030 with mSD and Glance!
