Sorry if this has already been posted. Couldn't see any threads when I looked.

We’re excited to announce Dr. Lisa Su as AMD’s new president and CEO! “I am deeply honored to have this opportunity to lead AMD during this important time of transformation. Our world-class technology assets combined with the incredible talent and passion of the AMD team provide us with a unique opportunity to shape the future of computing,” Dr. Su said. “I look forward to expanding on the strong foundation we have built under Rory’s leadership as we develop industry-leading technologies and products for a diverse set of markets to drive sustainable and profitable growth."

Could be a good thing - in a recent conference she was extremely emphatic about getting AMD ramped up onto 20nm through 2015 and 14/16nm as soon as possible after.

Eh, all she said was "we'll do 20nm next year and of course a finfet is important".

That doesn't bode well. Why'd Rory leave when they were in the middle of a transformation?

nvidia 9 series :p

Hope this new lady does well although women do like their heating so we may see some 100c + graphics cards from AMD soon on the new Burnwell process :D

Hey! I love my heaters :) — Judging by her career thus far and what she mentions about education, she is one clever cookie. Look forward to seeing what happens

Well looking deeper, it could be that share prices have dropped 15% this year, so need a shake up.

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- AMD AMD, -3.05% said Tuesday that Chief Executive Rory Read is stepping down as part of a transition plan, and will be replaced by Chief Operating Officer Dr. Lisa Su. Su, 44, will take up the role with immediate effect, the company said in a statement. Shares were up 0.6% in after-hours trade, and are down 15% in the year to date, while the S&P 500 has gained 6.5%

How long was the last ceo in place? Can't have been more than a year or two?

Just looked and 2011 he joined (I thought it was late 2012) and thought they were turning around with him at the helm. I am sure AMD know what they are doing.

If your talking about the Q2 conference call then her comment (not the abridged version) was:

"It is important that we are on competitive technology, so we have said before and I will say again that 20 nanometer is an important note for us. We will be shipping products in 20 nanometer next year and as we move forward obviously a FinFET is also important."

That isn't what I'm talking about though but still fairly emphatic there also.
