The Evil Within (The master of horror games is back)

This is the next game I plan to purchase, the more they reveal/show on the game the more I want to play it. I hope that it turns out to be great.

Source on that? I expect the controls to be purposely slower by design than than your average action game, but if they are technically unresponsive that could be cause for concern and a bit strange.

EGX demo version of the game

I didn't realise there was a review embargo on this until I googled for one. I think I'm going to cancel my pre-order and hold off on this until some feedback! I want it to be awesome, but it could just be dissapointing for £45 :(

Difficult to predict how this game will turn out, but I'm still optimistic and expect average scores of ~8 or higher from popular review sites (ign/gamespot/gametrailers/giantbomb/eurogamer etc).

The initial impressions from those that got the game early seem very positive, this is only a few people though and they are typically fans of the genre.

Either way I'd be very surprised and it would be a disappointment if I don't end up getting the game, especially at <£25 (PC version for me).

Please be good!.

This is one i will be buying down the line. Have a fair few games to play first so will be waiting to finish those until i buy might get it a bit cheaper then

i am looking forward to playing this though i hope they do a good job with it from what we have seen so far it looks great.

but in this day and age anyone can make a good trailer/gameplay trailer

There's plenty of actual gameplay footage out there, so you don't have to rely on trailers to get an initial idea of how the game plays and it's pacing.

This one https://youtube.com/watch?v=Kq5PIkITgaU for example was posted by Bethesda a little while back and is fairly non-spoilery.

i will give this a watch later today as it is quite long! thanks :)

I didn't actually watch every second of it myself, just skimmed through it and watched certain parts.
Probably best to not watch all of it so you stay unfamiliar with the progression in that part of the game.

I cant wait for this game......I can see it getting average scores because it may not bring anything "new".....but if its anything like Resi Evil 1 and 2 I will love it.

I miss old school 3rd Person Survival horror games like Silent Hill and Resident Evil 1 & 2....havent played a good one in years.

Just watched bits of this and have to say, some of the animation looks a bit disappointing and the frame rate doesn't look up to much. Hopefully this isn't indicative of the final game.

It annoys me that you also can't see your legs?

They say it's for immersion ? and to make the game a bit more scary

but at Zeropunctuation pointed out there has never been a horror game where i thought im so terrified thank **** i can see my legs.

The frame rate has improved somewhat since that build I believe - Although I have a feeling drops will still be apparent in parts. Some more recent footage here (minor spoilers).
The animation does look a bit odd in places I agree, like the main characters running animation for example. I've seen some good animation in other places though, particularly on some of the enemies.
