Will UKIP win its first seat in parliament tonight?

Its going to be the first of a few come election time. Its getting a little boring hearing the same 'racist party' comments. Take a look at some of their members, I think you will find they are from all sorts of backgrounds.

What other options are there? The paedo sheltering lefties? Spineless pro EU Cameron?

Great but errrr?

I can guarantee you that is how they won the seat. There are no other Options other than a proportional representation system. Then retards of all walks and flavours can share their knowledge on how best to run a country or leave the EU and let Brits drown in their own urine.

Essex people are notoriously DUMB, i am one of them, I know their motives.

Presumably last year they were all calm, rational, pro-capitalists as they voted Conservative in Clacton.

The other options should include the AV+ system of voting, which was the recommended voting system for the UK by the Jenkins Commission and yet both Labour and Tory governments have been dead set against.

Brilliant, I look forward to Labour and the Tories shuffling off to the right, because the important thing is to ensure victory at all costs, you know, as opposed to fighting an election campaign on the ideals you actually believe in.

I respect that people want something new or different but as that comedian says 'crapping in your own hotel bed then sleeping in it' isn't the answer.

I bet that comedian is Stewart Lee or some other unfunny metropolitan intellectual who is stealing a living.

Meaning people who vote for UKIP and said members here.

People who vote for UKIP are idiots. That's called opinion and it isn't a personal attack as it isn't directly calling one person an idiot.

I say the 'poll' by Sky News and i really can't fathom why people put immigration above the NHS, Education or the economy.

haha yeah thats the ****

Hahah 1st MP :D

As usual these thread are full of about 5 or 6 people who are allowed to insult people and get away with it. Mainly because some mods are also involved. Quite a joke really.

Because immigration affects how quickly you get seen or treated on the NHS, whether you can get your kids into your preferred school and how much your job pays and how much your mortgage or rent is. Many people voting UKIP are doing so exactly because of the NHS, education and economy.

Saw Farage being interviewed on BBC this morning, and in all honesty - I was impressed. For one reason really.

The man, a politician, actually *ANSWERED* questions!

When asked a direct question to give a number of Tory MP's who were considering defecting to UKIP, he said "No" - and then explained it was a private conversation between MP's and himself.

I honestly cannot actually remember the last time a politician said that word! There's clips of mainstream party leaders being asked direct questions, and weasel-wording their way out of them 5, 6, 7 times by the likes of Paxman etc, and here is a man who will say "No" as a question answer.

That, mark my words, will win him votes.

None mentioned UKIP as you suggested. And the other is from 2001.
Are you saying you vote green\libs to make you look intelligent :D

The one that doesn't mention UKIP is about the relationship between low IQ and right-wing beliefs. So its certainly relevant when we're discussing the UK's most right-wing mainstream party.

'Cognitive abilities are critical in forming impressions of other people and in being open minded,' say the researchers.
'Individuals with lower cognitive abilities may gravitate towards more socially conservative right-wing ideologies that maintain the status quo.
'It provides a sense of order.'
It's quite interesting stuff, really.

And being stupid isn't something you can do much about (this isn't related to education, just innate intelligence), so we shouldn't get angry at right-wingers - it's not actually their fault.

In practical terms, the Left needs to do more to simplify its ideals into something that can appeal to the less intelligent. After all, they are the ones who would likely see the most benefit from the Left's socially progressive policies.

It does affect those things, but not nearly as much as UKIP would have you believe. The reason why NHS waiting lists are long is primarily due to inadequate investment, PFI contracts consuming ever larger proportions of budgets, an ageing and increasingly obese population, a lack of people entering the profession, etc etc more so than immigrant alone. The situation is exactly the same for schools. Statistics showed the impending need for more school places a decade ago, and nothing was done. As for house prices, yes immigration has increased the pressure on the housing stock we have, but again you can't blame immigration for the fact that successive governments have known about impending growth in demand for these things (from the UK-born population, let alone immigration predictions) and done bugger all about it.

That's the key to UKIPs relative success lately: poor previous governments.

I see your point: NHS waiting lists would a be a heck of a lot longer if it weren't for its immigrant workforce.

BTW:
Why do we blame immigration for those things?
Why don't we blame insufficient investment in the services? 50 years of low-build policies designed to keep house prices rising (it's a vote winner), tax cuts, and school closures. How are we letting these aspects off the hook to point our finger at immigrants? Are you just falling for the spin?

Now that I will agree with. I had the misfortune of catching Clegg on the radio the other morning, and he was as ellusive as ever. Miliband is worse, that infamous interview of repetition and dodging will be his death knell. Then there's Cameron, who will only answer a question if he can make it into a soundbite.

UKIP will make further gains, that I am almost certain of and to be honest I'm kind of glad. The usual candidates are all pointless, and arguably so is Farage but the entire system needs shaking out of complacency and I don't care if it's Farage or AN Other who does it.

Well provided it doesn't descend into a V for Vendetta-esque future... there is the seeds of a global epidemic on the cards, government biased media, far right party making gains... :D
