Attempting a solo run of the nightfall with my hunter, if anyone's interested they are welcome to join. I feel vulnerable without my self res :(

Little tip, don't let your pike anywhere near the Axis Minotaurs, if one of their shots land remotely nearby it will explode and you with it.

Started a new character, all exited to get my first green engram decoded and it turns into a white. Thought all that nonsense was patched or does it only happen for blues and higher?

I got The Calming (Solar) from a Legendary Engram before getting 77 Wizard (Solar), both can one shot kill on PvP but my The Calming has a quick charge rate, so vaulted my 77 for other characters. On PvE, minions level 25-26 and below all 1 shot on both guns.
 
You have choices: do you want to wait for drops or would you like to grind Vanguard, Crucible, Future War Cult, Dead Orbit or New Monarchy's reputation up to level 3, to be able to buy Legendary Armour / Weapon?

Once you know which group you want to focus first, then go grind reputations for it. I did it by first joining FWC as I love both Vanguard and Crucible (and their gear), so doing both with bounties ranked up level 3 within a couple of days-ish.

Instantly bought a new legendary boots, that along with the 2 Queens armour gave me a nearly a full set. Bought a pair of exotic gloves from Xur makes it a complete set of legendary+.

Grind for materials and Ascendant Shards will get you to level 28 in no time.

I'm 27.5, stopped grinding materials for awhile now as I've been busy doing exotic bounties, daily, weekly and will soon attempt raid when I get the Xbox One this weekend! (More people I know plays on XBO than my 360)
 
As it turns out, the secret to completing the Nightfall is to bring along a second player with the Ice Breaker. Because 1-shot Shanks and ridiculous damage to the boss.

Game trolled me slightly though. Rewarded me the Exotic Helmet I bought from Xur last week ><

Iron Banner is getting tiresome. Control only so I can't switch it up a bit and it seems every ****er in there is using a Suros Regime so you automatically lose basically any trade at mid-range. Not to mention the bounties suck.

17 coins for Ice Breaker. He's located on the same side as the Speaker, right in the far corner. He's currently selling an exotic helmet engram for 23 motes of light, and exotic chest pieces for Hunters and Warlocks along with an exotic helm for Titans. They are Helm of Inmost Light for Titan, Lucky Raspberry for Hunters, and Voidfang Vestments for Warlocks.

Nothing to interest me this week. I found Ice Breaker in a legendary engram earlier this week and I have Raid chest armour that isn't worth replacing.
 
Ice breaker is amazing even at base level. Bought the chest armour as well as it gives a better perk set than my helmet.
 
I will be getting that Ice Breaker, but the Titan helm looks rubbish. It seems to only have melee upgrades as perks and when you need to melee it's usually too late already.
