Looking at these at the moment we have a mk2 v6 mondeo now so not too worried about fuel as it will only do 8000 a year.
Looking at one coming up at auction that is an import but RHD should that ring any alarm bells?
A 2007 titanium 2.5t sold for only £3000 yesterday with 86000 miles on it, but I want to do some more investigation first.

What was the model that came almost exclusively in 2.5T (there was a 2.0T option but it looks like Ford only sold about 5)? Titanium X or Zetec S? Had unique wheels or something?

The 2.5T is available in Ghia / Titanium / Titanium X / Titanium X Sport trims.

The 2.0T Ecoboost just replaced the 2.5T engine in 2010 and is available in Titanium / Titanium X / Titanium X Sport trims.

AFAIK the Titanium X Sports are only available with either the 2.5T or the 2.0T, and a couple of higher-powered diesels.

The 2.5T in the Mondeo was available across various trims, Ghia, Titanium, Titanium X and Titanium X Sport. There are only around a 100 of the latter. The 2.0T didn't come until 2010.

Edit: Beaten ^

Yeah I meant the other way round. I.e. there was a specific model where everyone seemed to buy a 2.5T, rather than that engine only being in one model. Sounds like I was thinking of the Titanium X Sport.

That would have been a shed for 3k. The prices of the 2.5t have risen over the last year along with the ST220 prices as there are so few around. Most of the 2.5T's I see for sale look rubbish and there always in terrible colours with the worst twin exhausts I have ever seen in a modern car:p
Get an ST220 for 3k instead

Assuming it's the same the car, have you looked at the BCA condition report? It's a bit shabby. I don't think there's anything in the import/re-registration thing, it shows on Ford ETIS under that reg number so it was originally registered by a Ford dealer otherwise it wouldn't show up on the reg, only the VIN. It's probably just had a private plate on it at some point.
