Amusingly awkward story for a Friday afternoon

Dwarf handed colouring book and crayons by waitress while on a date with fiancee
"James Lusted, 26, who is 3ft 7ins, was on a romantic meal with 5ft 7ins-tall Chloe Roberts, 20, at a Harvester Inn when the blunder happened"
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/new...by-waitress-while-on-a-date-with-fiancee.html

The lad took it in good spirits, but suspect the waitress was mortified :)

Some points to consider:
- Is this more or less awkward than calling your teacher "mum"?
- If the dwarf were you, how would you have felt? Happy? Grumpy? Bashful?
- How awesome would it be to be porking a woman who was two feet taller than you?
- Any other business

I had a few other points to raise, but I thought I would keep it short...

OP, the second half of your post is amazing. Well done lol

Sound like a nice couple to be fair. Makes a refreshing change to hear of people reacting in a positive way like this rather than the typical seeking compensation, blame, offended rant, zomg you're racist to dwarfs culture.

Awful article, but amusing.

The first paragraph is repeated multiple times and they said this....

James Lusted, 26, who is 3ft 7ins, was on a date at a Harvester Inn in Cardiff with his fiancee, Chloe Roberts, who is 5ft 7ins, when the waitress picked up two menus, the crayons and a colouring book.

[...]

A rare genetic condition called Diastrophic Dysplasia caused Miss Lusted's dwarfism. Both parents are normal height.

Well done Miss Tom Brooks-Pollock. :D

That's not fair, this might be as romantic as they can afford. Sometimes we have to take what little we can get. I bet the waitress felt pretty bashful.

plenty of places as cheap as harvester that are more romantic, might as well go to McDonalds!

I doff my hat to you vanandjuanunited speedy and amusing.

So refreshing that they saw the funny side and took it well, without acting offended and asking for some form of compensation.

I read the thread title without the : and thought to myself "if I was out on a date and being awkward a colouring book and some crayons would probably calm me down. And how come it's only kids that are offered those when at a restaurant. Maybe I've had a ****** day and want to colour in farm animals as well."

This thread poses a lot of questions.
