R9 290 - 290X flash

You have a 290 chip that cannot be unlocked to a 290X, and you have Hynix memory which reputedly generally overclocks higher than Elpida memory. You also have a nice wallpaper and "Steam" in the title for nearly all your hard drives - nice! :D

Hehe, ok so I should stop before I begin then :(. The bios switch, does that give any benefits with overclocking if it is changed?

I do have a small overclock on the card, with not having this long im not quite at the point of knowing where it can get to.

The BIOS switch doesn't do anything on a 290 other than change between two identical BIOSes (the 290X had one BIOS with a lower fan limit and one with higher). Depending if your card is a reference card or not, you might be able to flash a different BIOS to give slightly higher stock clocks - there's a 975MHz reference BIOS out there - but as there isn't a manual editing tool that works on the 290 series, you're limited to what manufacturers have released. Is your card reference or not? Is there a higher clocked version of your card that you could flash the BIOS from?

To be honest though, there's no real advantage to flashing a BIOS on a 290 (unless it's one that will unlock to a 290X) as you can control clocks and fan curves much better using Afterburner. BIOS editing would be great if we could do it on these cards, so I wouldn't need to rely on software to control the card, but as it's not an option I'd say stick with Afterburner for clocks/fan control.

Ok guys i must be doing something wrong here, My card is scoring really low on Heaven compared to where the R9 290's are. Scores tend to stick around 1300 mark. Mine is coming out with near 500??
I have is on Fullscreen - Quality to ultra and extreme Tesselation. AA x8. I can't understand this because I get no problems gaming on full. ?

Just a thought, would CCC be over riding the settings?

I tried unlocking my Powercolor PCS+ using a Powercolor PCS+ 290X BIOS, it didn't work, all it did was change the clocks.
