** MSI TOP PLAYER TOP CHOICE: BIG AMD PRICE DROP!! **

Great deal Gibbo! I love my lightning and I'd been considering getting another one so I can get a higher res monitor. This is very very tempting.

Are the rest of the system components identical in those benches, or are they just referencing a database of past results?
The other system components remain the same within those comparisons and within all GPU Bench 2014 comparisons. AT settled on updating their GPU rig every 12 months; hence how there is also a separate 2013 GPU bench.

Just noticed the 'cheap' R9 290 MSI gaming for £216... If you sold the gold voucher games, surely that's priced under £200? Looks like a super price, I'm now tempted to stay on the red side... Was dead set on a GTX 970 until I saw this deal.

Does anyone know if that specific MSI card is decent? Are there still issues with black screens or any other issues with the 290/290x cards?

EDIT: Just went and ordered anyway, was only 6 left!

The lightnings are 58mm thick, I guess some motherboards have enough PCI-E spacing to fit them for crossfire?

Thanks for clarifying.

I used to spen a lot of time on Anandtech, but not been there for a while.

I cant fit them in crossfire, i have one, but if i put that as the bottom card, and get a gaming edition 290x as the top card Will it over heat? had one before and was not impressed, but with a lightning underneath, maybe the dissipation will be ok in crossfire ? Also the issue with running a lightning at 1100 mhz with a gaming version at 1040 mhz. Would i have to downclock the lightning?

3 slot cooler, what a pain in the bum cheeks for crossfire.

I've got two coming Nelly so will let you know how i get on. I have room for four cards on the Rampage Extreme IV so I'm not anticipating a problem with two lightnings. Might even pick up a third if they're good, though that would mean I'd have to take the side panel off of my case. (or water cool)

God damn it, wish I had'nt opened this thread, now I'm going to have to buy my third MSI 290X, not worried about temps......

At 4K that's always a wise move.

I might get the 290 gaming edition :D

Seems pretty good for the price

Does anyone know if you can still get xsplit premium 6 months for free? (apparently normally $49.90)

edit: just noticed "Buy any MSI GAMING Graphics Card(*) from April 15th 2014 to May 31st 2014"

If you put a watercooler onto a MSI card from OcUK, does it void the warranty?

Wow! The price on that MSI 290 is amazing especially considering the game bundle. Think I've finally decided which card I'm going for! Thanks!

Yeah it's an awesome deal considering you get £25+ worth of games with it free, making the card really only cost about £185 - £190.
