Pinching pub glasses?

Me + housemates nicked a few shot glasses from the student union nightclub during our uni days, 1999/2000 era :-)

Weatherspoons curry club: not sure what the metal bowls look like in your local branch, but they look like as pictured below at the Stafford "Picture House" Weatherspoons. Anyway, a couple of them in the Picture House have only 1 handle (so 1 handle missing) and my mate insisted that they bring good luck, so he nicked both of them :p Hid them under his t-shirt so that it looked like he had a pot belly lol.

Pubs get the glasses for free, and expect them to go missing, as do the breweries that get them made in the first place. Its all advertising.

Unless your stealing the plain non branded ones? In which case, you monster!

I have a few glasses that have all been acquired whilst being hideously drunk. Don't really see much of a problem with it, do the pubs even pay for branded glasses?

Depends on the pub and their deal with distributors/reps, problem is the most desirable ones are usually the unusual/limited glasses, which pubs will sometimes buy in specially. My favourite Cambridge pub had a problem with this for a while. Wsn't me though, I have my own tankard there :p

I remember living in student flats, the cupboards were always full of stolen glasses, though I only remember taking one myself. Though it was probably more. These days we just have 2 Kronenbourg glasses and 2 JD tumblers, both from when my wife and I were running a bar, so didn't feel so bad about appropriating them.

We did once take a table and two benches from a pub in Edinburgh, but they were being thrown out anyway - set them up in my room in halls and used them to play all night poker games. Good times.

I think pretty much 90% of my collection of pint glasses over the years have come from pubs. In fact, I'm drinking from a stein that I brought back from Germany.

When I was managing a pub, we never bought any glassware, it all came for free from the brewery, either through order or through promotion.

Only acceptable to do if it's it's so big as to make it an achievement 4 pint pitchers yards of ale weird cocktail glades pints/normal glasses don't count

I once stole a pistachio from a gibbon. Many sads. I'd never steal glassware from a pub though, it's stuff like this that caused the holocaust !

Newcastle Broon Ale schooner glasses. They are so rare that they almost always get stolen when a pub has them in.

This is probably just a north east thing.

I always take fancy glasses if I see them. most of them are given free for advertising anyway and I imagine the net cost of one glass to be pretty low

I have a pineapple cup and a tiki mug from a cocktail bar

I once walked out of a pub with a half full pint glass and was too far away to take it back. Still not over it.

I have some lovely bombay saphire ones :)

but Its my local and have been going for 20 plus years...so I simply ask the landlord if its a glass that takes my fancy..then pop a pound into the RNLI charity box

My mum used to have loads of glasses ash trays beer towel things she never nicked them she used to just ask manager if she seen one she liked they always just said yes even had few ice bucket things. I have a single glass from wether spoons that i took by mistake when i lived across the road from one i popped back home for a sec to get my phone left my drink in the kitchen found glass when i returned home later on

Yes I steal real ale pint glasses of my favourite beers.

I'm not proud of it, what I am proud of is my collection of excellent glasses from various tasty breweries.
