Will there be a Asus GeForce GTX 980 DirectCU II or will there only be the Strix brand ?

Would be good if they offered the traditional DCU2 styling.

I much prefer to DCUII heatsink with the stickers so that you can keep it completely black if you want to. Also the backplates looked fairly sick for the most part.

Combine that with the black heatpipes on the matrix cards and you have the recipe for a 100% black stealth card that a lot of people would like.

They might have kept the DCuII branding in certain countries as a Swedish OCer posted a record on hwbot for a "980 DCuII".

Nice idea, I'm not too fond of the in your face ROG styling, I like the Sabertooth mobo type stealth style sort of like the 780 Ti DCU2 had.

Strix replaced DC2, though looks wise it is more or less identical.

They basically took the DC2, updates the bios so the fans don't spin at low temperatures and renamed it Strix.

The 980 has an 1 x 8 pin and 1 x 6 pin, The 970 only needs 1 x 8 pin, Gotta remember they are very power efficient.

Strix is DC2. Same chokes same PCB same control fets and digi power delivery. Same same same. I just did a review of one. Very good air performance with the cooler being almost silent and powerful.

Great LN2 cooling clocks also 2100+ possible for sure.

Sadly I won't be able to do SLI though as I don't have an SLI bridge as for some reason 1 wasn't included with the mobo like they usually are

Most own design coolers are cheesy and overstated, it is the PCB which is of interest with better power etc.

The EVGA ACX Coolers are about as good as it gets in my books

I'd say the DC2/Strix is the best all round cooler, nothing cheap about it, and it is the quietest and one of the best performing designs.
