I really need to clean my Bosch oven. The inside of the door should be ok, I know it comes off quite easily with Hob Brite from previous experience, but what's the best way to tackle the interior and the grill element, and is a scourer ok?

Boiling water in a dish with lemon juice, put the oven on and leave it for an hour. The stuff will just wipe off.

Thanks, I'll try that. So, soak the interior of the oven with the boiling water and lemon juice without scrubbing, turn oven on to a high temp and leave for an hour? Or just put dish in the oven with the water and lemon? No Mr.Muscle or any of those products needed then, not even fairy liquid?

I just put the dish in and let the water boil so it steams the oven. If you have hard baked on stuff it might need a scrub with some detergent, i do mine weekly along with the microwave. I'm a clean freak.

There's no way this will work if you've not cleaned it in an age, it can be difficult enough to claw off the burnt on stuff even after you've covered it in strong oven cleaner nevermind a light steaming with some lemon juice.

One good way is to use baking soda. Just mix 2 Tbsp baking soda, 2Tbsp of salt and 2Tbsp of hot water and use that for cleaning. You might need to leave it for a while and the scrub depending how bad the oven is.

Baking soda works for many things and I use it and vinegar to unblock sinks and to get rid of any smell coming from a sink. It is also cheaper than all the various stuff you buy from supermarkets.

For really tough stuff get to an auto store and buy some battery acid Dilute a little, wear gloves and goggles and don't let it sit too long. Plus have a pot of baking soda nearby for emergencies.

With a paint brush apply the acid wherever there is grime, liberally on the bad spots. let it sit for 15 minutes and have a go at scrubbing it off. If it wont clean then wait another 15 minutes.

Once cleaned up wipe it all down with lots of water, and then a final water with a small amount of baking soda.

Not for the faint hearted but sulfuric acid will eat away the grime.

Caustic based stuff is the best. We use Dr Power from pound land. It's a copy of oven pride but in aerosol form. Spray it on, leave it 24hrs and wipe off the next day. It's good stuff.

Yeah caustic soda is the stuff. I don't like the spray on stuff as it gets it in the air and even with a mask you end up coughing from it. Basically turns the oils and fats into soap overnight. You need gloves.

Mr Muscle Oven cleaner - £1.50 from asda - done a great job the other day.

Would be interested to hear/see the results from the water/lemon juice etc.

Am liking the sound of the lemon juice one.....can you use lime instead (have a bottle of lime juicce in fridge atm and cba going out and getting some lemons)

Water and other environmentally friendly oven cleaners won't even touch a dirty oven with properly baked on grease etc. You want the most noxious chemicals possible.

OvenPride, comes in a box in the supermarket. About £6 I think.

Comes with a bag for the shelves, and loads of the gel you can apply all over the oven. It's caustic as hell, so use the gloves, cover up and vent the room well.

Follow up with Mr Muscle foam cleaner for any stragglers.
