Does anyone else watch these on YT?

Myself I normally do not bother with them because I'm not sure what the point is ( I mainly watch gaming ones purely for the personalities doing them, not the actual content of the box), I guess I've seen a few gaming unboxings which seem to go well and are properly made (mainly by Ali-A, Drift0r, Wickedshrapnel etc) but for other things they always seem to be done by people with potatoes, who hold the camera in one hand whilst unboxing the product and then talking in a muffled voice over that leads to a terrible experience.

This type of unboxing is generally the higher end ones I see:


I then came across this earlier today, and it certainly seemed to hit new lows, it looks like it was filmed in a dungeon. I was lost for words to be honest.


So, GD, do you like to see unboxing vidoe's in general, do you check them out before you buy a product?

I watch professional unboxing videos on decent stuff I'm thinking about buying

Can't say I see the point of a video game unboxing.....erm, well....there's a plastic box, a manual and a disc
 
I'll watch a review but not some nerd opening a box. Such a pointless exercise unless of course you need some help getting into a box.
 
On aprils fools day, youtube released a number of spoof videos.

In one of them, they announced youtube was closing down, and the best youtube video would be chosen by a large panel of judges. One of the categories they were choosing was "best unboxing video", where a number of people were passionately arguing over who was the best youtuber at opening boxes.
That was for April fools day, this thread is real.
 
Unfortunately my other halves little girl is obsessed with the toy version of these...to the point where she would rather watch 'toys' on the computer than play with the actual toys themselves!?!?

The worse part about these toy ones are the 'adults' that film/narrate them:

The only ones even mildly interesting are those that open boxes of unknown contents, such as the loot crate.

Watching someone open a box with known contents is a somewhat uneventful, in the grand scheme of things.

"HIZOMG! I just bought this box of cereal! Lets do an unboxing! YEAH! Ok, ok... the box says 'Contents: cereal' Wowzers! Lets see what's inside!!!"

I only watch them for products I'm interested in buying. Can't be bothered with anything else really.

Where did this word come from? "unboxing"? WTF is that?

And that idiot above didn't even "unbox" his xbox game, unless it was so quick I skipped over it when I was skipping whole chunks of his vid.

What a load of dross.
 
You should watch the whole second video, it's so awful, not just for content, but the setting for the video.

I swear the dungeon in Hostel had better decor.
