Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor

Got this and loving it!

Am I supposed to 'level up' by just killing random Uruks and then head for the Captain? Is that the gist of what I am meant to be doing, as I am not entirely sure lol

I need this....

It's awesome. Especially when you just want to single a captain out, get rid of his cronies for 1 on 1 action

Not to mention if the captain has a weakness to stealth, you can just off him as well.

Yeah, but there's of course the actual story line to play :p I did exactly what you're doing for the first 4/5 hours gameplay though.

Is there really only 3 weapons I can use?

Yes. You level them up and you can add some epic runes.

Everyone should learn how to send death threats so you can get a better chance at epic runes. My sword is fully unlocked and an epic rune in each slot.

The following requirements must be met to get a level 25 rune:
+20 for the enemy being level 20
+2 for the enemy being a Warchief
+1 for performing a revenge kill (the Warchief killed you before)
+1 for knowing the weaknesses of the Warchief (interrogate Captains to get intel)
+1 for exploiting the Warchief's Fear / Hate
=25 points that equal a level 25 rune.

I would also unlock the steath kill skill first. It's way handy in boss fights. Going inv and steath kills loads if Orcs can swing the battle in your favour.

I disliked doing this and found it was better to run away then try and brutalize an enemy that was chasing me but had lost sight of me to cause others to run in fear then whittle them down that way.

I only have that Trophy and the one for helping a captain win a power struggle then killing him anyway and I will have the plat Trophy,

Yes and no, More info in the spoiler tags

The story does not have any direct impact on the books as such but goes into the creation of the rings and has characters from that as part of the SoM Story line.I do not remember the books well enough to give more information than that really.

Ok played a good bit of this game now, and to be honest I absolutely love it.
It’s exactly as I thought it would be if not better.

If you can get over the fact that it’s basically butchering Orcs and Urki, which personally I can’t get enough of, you will love it too.

The more abilities you get the more God like you feel and the more fun you have.
That’s why I love it, it’s just down right action related fun.
Voice acting is brilliant, the fighting mechanics are amazingly fluid, (some of the best I have seen in a game in a hell of a long time) very like BAA, but actually done a hell of a lot better, moves like AC, but not as boring IMO. Switching between the different actions, shadow strike, normal combat, finishers, drain, Brand, counter, arrows. Its ridiculously brilliant fun lol

One question, I now have the 'brand ability', which has completely changed the game for me, but how do you get Orcs to assassinate other Orcs?
Is it only the body Guards that can do this from what I remember?

Is there anything else you can get them to do or is that it?

I still think this was money very well spent, and I will be replaying this once I finish it, if only to take control and mess about with the nemesis system :):p;)

As above, this game is amazing, And the combat system is something else, I'm aware it may be copied, but its been copied and perfected. The double counters where you split Talion from celebrimbor, countering 2 attacks at once can be amazing to see!

Also you guys aware that theres a photo mode?? It needs enabling in the options, but its pretty

PS4, XboxONE and PC versions.

Picked up a second hand copy of this for £25 today, got the house to myself for a few hours so time to see if this is for me, I have a feeling I will love it though.

Just started playing this and did a couple of story missions and side missions. Quite good fun so far.

Yep took about 20 mins and I knew this was exactly the kind of game I love, will play this pretty heavily over the next few weeks, but great to jump into regardless of what mood your in.
