Nexus 6 Rumours and Speculation

If it is indeed true then I don't understand they why can't include it on the phone too.

Because they can then use capacity to charge you ~£80 for every 32gb of additional flash memory, which costs them 1p.

The SD licenseing line is just a diversion to try and avoid people realising its just a massive money making scam.

Looks big enough to have a Compact Flash card slot :D

Probably fit a zip disk in :D

Reserving judgement for now though - I'm due an upgrade in March, but frankly, my N4 is still going strong - so although the geek in me wants new tech, I might plod along with the N4 a while longer.

If the nexus 6 is the same size as the IP6+ I'll have to give it a miss. The width on that picture would make it very difficult for 1 handed usage never mind the height.

Agree. A $ 49 contract price should definitely position it well vs the iPhone 6+ in the US.

And agree the rumours seem very strong now about an announcement today. Hoping the SIM free price is equally attractive/subsidised. After all, Moto (the OEM) is still technically owned by Google as the sale to Lenovo has not yet cleared the regulators.

Hardware sales equate to mere pennies on Google's balance sheet.

My point is if they would put sd-slots on tablets, then why not phones.

It's to encourage people to use their cloud services rather than to profit off hardware sales.

We have a winner.

Quite obviously correct.

Its about advertising (see what I did there) to the user the way google want you to use android.

And that includes back everything up in the cloud

Wasn't the Nexus One the last (and only) Nexus phone with an SD slot? Pretty much always been their game plan from the Nexus S onwards to force us towards cloud storage and limited local.
