The Crew for PC may get an official 60fps option, says Ubisoft

Ubisoft has copped a lot of flack lately regarding performance and frame rate issues. Watch Dogs caused an uproar, Assassin's Creed: Unity's parity between consoles has people furious, and many who took part in The Crew's beta were frustrated that the racer was locked at 30 frames per second. Everyone is very angry about this.
It looks like Ubisoft is trying its best to support 60 frames per second on PC, according to a recent TechRadar interview with Lead designer Serkan Hassan. "Ultimately the performance and the frame rate will be down to the players hardware," he said.
"A few people in the closed beta found ways of unlocking the frame rate. My understanding at this moment is that we'll be allowing players to do that come the full version as well, unless some other issue comes to light which would block that in any way."
It follows comments made by Assassin's Creed world designer Nicolas Guérin that the industry is dropping 60fps as a standard, specifically for action adventure games. Creative Director Alex Amancio told TechRadar that while 30 is a goal for Assassin's Creed and games of its ilk, 60 frames per second is ideal for a shooter. So it's no surprise that Rainbow Six: Siege has been confirmed to run at 60fps on all platforms.

So it's currently locked at 30 fps with a carrot dangled of 'may get an official 60 fps option', don't know if my rig can handle upwards of 30 fps.:p

I am really frustrated about this, I want to utilise the hardware that I've spent my hard earned money on but for some reason Ubisoft see it fit to start locking these options out, why? It makes no sense what so ever as the game is a better experience with better hardware and higher FPS

I don't understand it and think I will just boycott their games until they see sense which is a shame as some of them can be quite good

Unlocked at 60fps on the beta induced random 2-3 second pauses, it was unpredictable , at least I couldn't predict them and was usually minuets apart but that leads me to believe it needs to be 30fps due to other features/systems relying onit , just like rivals. I don't believe them nor will I spend my money to find out , it's certainly one of there most optimised tittles to date but still falls way to short for me to even think about parting with cash

I'll just pirate it and purposely forward copies to people who may buy it just to make Ubi lose money and start treating PC gamers properly :p jks

"Players can hack the game code so they can run more than 30 FPS"

Yay Ubi ^^^ thank you so much, my hero.....

I'm finished with Ubisoft, my Intelligence suffers every time i purchase one of their sub par releases. They have had ample opportunity to correct their attitude to pc users over recent years but would rather add insult to injury of the wallet. Good riddance.

Oh ubisoft.
What a pack of cretins.

It riled me a lot when i read the article about how some of thier titles run 30fps next-gen and how they might give 60fps. And it has been whispered the people behind this are Sony and Xbox cretins. Because the cretins do not want thier millions of cretins to know that they bought into a last gen £300 box which is somehow marketed as next-gen.

Everyone needs to polish up a turd if they want to sell it. The majority of big games like Witcher III will probably be 900p at 30fps. Yes surely that is next gen compared to 4K 60 or even 1080p 120. The games i want to run will be 4K 120hz using Nvidia DSR until 4K 120 arrives. And here we have these cretins stopping me from going above 30 or even 60fps on a whole range of games.

Hopefully they crash and burn or get relegated back to the console market. We all know now and then they rip us off and then try to crawl back with pc first development. But it eventually slides back to being consolized like Ubisoft and this i think they have used up all thier chances now. Infact we should probably have a poll to decide if the word Ubisoft should trigger an automatic lifetime forum ban?

What a load of bull, Sony and Microsoft are not behind this. Do you really think Sony would advocate parity with the XB1? They have the most powerful hardware of the two, they'd never ask for parity with MS, their whole deal with the PS4 is to make it look better than the XB1, not the same.
