In need of a tech update (use a Galaxy Ace (Pay as ypu go and awful but limited finances at time) and a Motorola XOOM (3 contract £8 pm 5gb but old now but still good) and these are the 4 I've narrowed it down to.

Probably leaning towards the Note 4 (contract), but the G3 has grabbed my attention. Can get the, all for the same price.

Will be looking at them later but whar would you recommend?

Have ruled out the S5 as no review seems to put them in the top 5 where all the others are.

You've got 2 different categories there, Z3 & M8 vs G3 & Note 4, I'd decide what size I'd want firstly, then chose :)

I'm waiting for a Note 4 to be delivered later today, so I'm perhaps biased but it trumps the G3, assuming they'll cost you the same?

Note 4 TBH. There's not much difference in size between the G3/Z3/M8 and the Note 4, and the Note 4 is clearly the best of the bunch on the spec front.

I'm not sure that really applies any more. Flagships have grown so much in the past year that the difference in size between a 5.2" flagship and a phablet is negligible.

I think that's why a lot of people on here have picked up a Z3 Compact - the size of modern flagships is getting annoying. If I wanted a phablet-sized phone, I'd buy a Note.

Thats pretty much my thinking too. My Xoom is 10" so not exactly pocket size but size and weight isn't really an issue (my hands are manly man size).

All are 4gb EE contracts at £38.99pm via Carphone Warehouse (never had an issue with EE wherever I've been in the country) with only the Note 4 requiring an extra payment up front (phone costs £100 more anyway).

I'd say the Z3 just because I hate Touchwiz and although LG's skin is bearable, it doesn't beat Sony's IMO (which is nearly stock tbh). The M8 skin is also not too bad.

The QHD display is wasted on the G3 - the CPU (the SD801) is not optimised for it at all. The display on the Z3 is 1080p but you cannot tell the difference anyway (IMO). The M8 display is also good.

The M8 is good but the camera is pretty dire. It's okay for shots when any camera would be good but don't count on good photos in low light or in less than perfect situations. The Z3 camera is good, as is the G3 camera.

I've used the Z3, M8 and G3 for extended periods of time so I can answer questions on them. I haven't tried the Note 4 yet (stoosh says I have a problem - which is true haha :p ) but hopefully will soon.

Its the first screen ( note 4 ) which I can hand on heart say it smashes and Isheep one.

Its so lovely i cant quite stop looking at it.

Touchwiz is better but still they need to do some work, and I think that lollipop will bring some much needed changes.

The only real negative I can bring is that the speaker isnt that great but I have come from boomsound htc :)
