How far would you drive to collect your online order?

I believe it's called linear interpolation - or extrapolation cant remember which one is which.

Basically, the miles in MPG is not relative to any actual miles you've travelled, you don't actually have to have driven 150 miles to have a reading of 150mpg. The figure of 150 miles is not actual-physical, it has been interpolated so it can be represented on a relative scale in the form of distance over gallons.

Basically this (extrapolation).

100 miles for the needle to move at all, ~150 miles before it it hit first bar on the dial.

It would have been nice to get 150mpg out of it. Realistically it was more like 30 :p

Look, you don't have to like it or agree, but it works and give me an average!

Correct, it does work, and it does give you an average.

It doesn't give an average of anything useful or resembling your MPG, but it certainly gives an average of "something" :p

Id wait

There is some abysmal maths/logic/sense in this thread

Not all bars on a fuel gauge are equal.
My s2000 gets 28mpg

Amount of fuel in + miles driven.
Simple division
Repeat
Average

My tdi had a measure and obviously only accurate over long journeys.
I found it calculated instant mpg and just keeps polling this adding and averaging.
This isn't extrapolation in this particular model

Considering it would only cost £17 in my Corsa or £24 in the A3 I'd do it.

I'd enjoy the drive out and also not have to wait around. Then again I live a boring life and need to find any excuse to fill my time.

Well I done. It. Travelled basically 10hours round trip to pick something up from Manchester as I was too impatient to mess about waiting for delivery.

I had a rare day off on a Saturday and wasted it, ironically I got back so late that I couldn't even use it, and I'm at work today so won't be able to properly use it until the week anyway.

Never again...I'll stick to delivery unless it's local as in 10minutes away....

Lolol
Could have been worse.
Could have tried to build it and broke something.

Not in your situation no, once built your other commitments will prevent you using it anyway so why bother doing a 200 mile round trip just to build it and have it sit around for a week.

Is the right answer, a new toy pc is great but spend the time with the kids and sort the pc next week (after work) Just get it delivered as usual and let it sit. It's not going to grow legs and walk off. Any time with your kids is precious. As a divorced dad I'd rather spend the time with my daughter than gaming or building a pc.
