Essential Games to own....

Beyond these I have some games outside of Steam like Diablo 3 that I have played a fair bit (though not playing atm!).

i wish i could get into Civ 5, as the last civ/col game i loved was colonization.

It's down my list a bit tbh but I still enjoyed it when it came out, didn't play the expansions as much.

For one off play throughs I really liked the following:

Alien Isolation (so far so good

)
Tomb Raider
Far Cry 3
Darksiders
Dishonored
Sleeping Dogs
Defense Grid
Bioshock(s)
Alan Wake
Max Payne(s)
Crysis(es)
Bulletstorm (good little game tbh if cheap).
Hotline Miami

I would add Shadow of Mordor to the list but that was on the PS4, great game anyway I thought

Agree with Alan Wake and am playing my way through Sleeping Dogs while Alien Isolation is staring at me in Steam ready to be played soon.
