Susan Boyle has begun looking into adoption.

The singer, 53, has been in contact with the social services, as part of the process.

53 year-old single with a history of mental health problems Susan Boyle is trying to adopt a child...

So much wrong... She should just get a cat like all the other spinsters who failed at life (before her random 15-minutes of fame). This must be just a desperate publicity stunt, right? I mean... right?

If she is mentally fit to do so then why not?

Whats wrong with giving a child in need a home?

She is a multi-millionaire and I'm sure the child would not want for anything.

All of this

Odd thread even by my poor standards :-)

I don't see why this is a problem. The teams that deal with this will make sure she is fit and she seems to be an amazing person with a colourful past and she would probably make a great parent to a child that needs one. Good on her.

Talk about being a ****, do the world a favour and disappear.

Best of luck to her, if she is capable and can provide a loving and safe home to a child. Everybody deserves a chance at happiness, both child and her.

Tell us more about your own spectacular life success story and how you are amazingly good looking OP

TBH, OP is a pathetic child who should look at his own shortfallings and learn some humility. Empty vessels and all that.

+1, if she meets the criteria then good on her!

Agreed.

I don't know if she is mentally fit or unfit, but if she is I have no issues with it what so ever.

What is the fact that she isn't attractive got to do with it?

I'm sure she will be fine, she will have the money and the people to look after the child and pay for a top private education, i'm sure she will be great.

I live in the same town as her. All that talk about her being grounded, living in her simple council house and walking around the local shops like a grounded normal person. Well let me tell you something about that. It's all bloody true. If that's not a sign of mental illness I don't know what is.

Clearly the OP has no idea how thorough the vetting process is to adopt.

Adopting a child is one of the most difficult things you can do. It isn't a case of turning up, browsing the shelves and picking one.

If she can provide a home (which the adoption agency will be able to tell if she can or can't) to an orphan and give it a wonderful life. Then what on earth is wrong with that?!

Tempted to change the OP's name to 'butt-ugly munter'

Do it DO IT!!!

I'm currently going through the Adoption Process, and I suffer from Anxiety and Depression, but as long as I'm on my medication (which is a relatively small dose compared to some) The adoption agency have no problems!

Just because a person suffers from Mental Health problems doesn't mean that they will be a bad parent!
