Thought there might be some interest in this given there have been a number of discussions around cheap leases etc lately.

First of all, would I spend £15.5k on this car? No. However, it cost me £116 per month on a 9+23 deal and was cheaper than the standard Zetec-S (and Zetec for the matter). I'm not really one for finance but this made sense for us as our 2003 Focus was beginning to show signs of age.

It's a special edition with black roof, black wheels, black wing mirrors, black grille and extra bhp. It produces 140hp from a 1.0l turbo engine which is very impressive. As it uses Ford's ecoboost engine it has start/stop technology which takes some time to get used to. Spec isn't great, it has aircon which is pretty much it and some nice red stitching to the interior. It has bluetooth and can sync with your phone etc which I haven't really played with yet.

It's nice enough to drive, feels pretty solid and planted. I know I'll get called out for this but it makes the most incredible noise. It sounds like the V6 in my old Mondeo ST220, a really deep rumble at low revs. It's really bizarre, I don't know if it's a synthetic noise through the speakers but it sounds really good.

Feel free to ask any questions.

Focus wouldn't have costed you £116 a month on repairs but for a nice new car that isn't a horrible diesel it's not a bad deal.

A 2nd car would benefit us so provided the Focus makes it through the MOT, I will keep them both.

Where did you pick it up from? A 6+23 might be ideal for the Mrs

A company called smartlease. As soon as you place the order with them it gets passed to a Ford dealer.

Is it really 116 a month or is it actually 116 a month with deposit of 1044 giving an effective monthly cost of 155?

£116 on a 9+23 payment profile. 9 payments down at the start plus £116 per month for 23 months.

Think the exact numbers are £860 + VAT deposit and then 23 * £116. Total is around £3700 for 2 years.

Is there a mile limit on this deal though?

I have wondered about the merits of leasing over buying. With costs of services, mot's, tyres repairs etc etc. This kind of thing is tempting.

You'll still pay for all those things (if you have it long enough).

It's just a convenient way to have a new car for a couple of years

These deals get more and more tempting, nice car too I've been watching the used prices of the 125 zetec s also read a few reports on real life mpg being miles away from fords claims, would be interesting to hear how yours goes

Smartlease were fine, I couldn't find much about them by googling but like I said I was handed straight to a Ford dealer in bedford who dealt with everything from there on in. Their website doesn't do them any favours but you also don't pay a doc fee unlike other lease sites.

Mileage allowance is just 5k per annum which is a bit of a pain, but I only estimate doing 6k at the absolute maximum anyway. I don't think this will be too much of an issue. At 5k per annum I may need a service and some tyres, everything else should be covered by warranty.

Due to the 1l engine the insurance was under £200 for me and my partner.

Hmm mileage limit is a pain. I am currently doing 6 - 9k (depending on work)

If you need tyres in 5k miles I dread to think how you drive :-)

Nice car OP great deal . Bet 140bhp in a small car actually feels quick aswell. I can't believe the deals they have on that smart lease site. A brand new Fiesta ST2 £99.99+Vat per month :eek: I WANT.
Seems weird that there wanting like £150+Vat for poverty spec 1.6 Astra's and Leon's etc when the ST fiesta is a 180bhp 0-60 6.8 seconds hot hatch.
