1000£gaming pc

I'm not sure if I'm right, but If don't need that powerful CPU for extreme gaming, then this cooler is not necessary either, isn't it.Instead I can get a better graphics card maybe ?.

Well the 4690k (i5) is the same chip (as the i7) just without hyperthreading (and a few 100mhz underclocked). Hyperthreading makes 4 physical cores appear as 8 virtual cores when running programs which require virtual cores (not all games do and only then normally no more than 4 are used anyway, the i5 has 4 virtual cores and 4 physical cores).

You'll still need a decent CPU cooler to Overclock. Overclocking the i5 or the i7 will give you significant gains in games.. Around 10%-15% depending on the game.

Also I've read in some guide that I can easily do without a ssd disk, if I intend to play only.

YOu don't need an SSD, they just make the experience of using a PC much faster. They can boot up from cold in around 10-15 seconds..

I don't suppouse, I will ever dear to tamper with my system, as I'm a complete amateru, and I wouldn't want to mess anything up:)- that overclocking thing seems dangerous if you don't know how to pull it off :D.

If it doesn't affect gaming performance by any means, why did my friend then, suggest I should keep the games I play the most on my ssd disk.

None of us are born knowing how to overclock(apart from 8 Pack) its just something you learn, we all (well a lot of OCUKs users) did...

It loads games faster.. It won't give you more FPS or anything.. Id have one though, im never going back to standard HDD (aart from storage)..

Oh thank you, it's a bit more clear now, sorry for asking such basic questions. I wish I could build up my own pc, but it seems too much to get my head around ;/.

If it helps, there are videos on YouTube which will give you a steady walk through. That should make things easier. Think of it as electronic lego!

No worries, questions are how people learn..

There are loads of guides and videos online if you are interested. Once you know how its pretty straight forward ( a bit like lego).

Overclocking is a different kettle (of fish) but if you geta PC set up for OCing (CPU, motherboard and cooler) you can learn that later.. :)

Not to brag, but this is a very helpful forum and you'll get the help here you need (as long as you remain calm and friendly). :)

Thanks :).I've got still time until the begining of 2015, this is when I want to have everything sorted, ideally by the 28rd of January,as it'll be my birthday:).I will get started learning asap how to get it done properly, so keep your fingers crossed:).By the way, do you recommend any particular website, channel or suchlike ?where I could get the most reliable, ane up to date content ?.

Well, I did ask a colleague of mine, if he could help me out with that, and out of the blue he charged me 100£saying that it was a fair deal considering how much effort and time building a computer takes, I just thanked him for nothing , and said that after all, I'll try to do it myself.

Thanks for the guide, very educational:). Guys can a single gtx 970 run triple monitor gaming
on the highest settings in the latest games?. Recently this idea has just popped into my head, and I'm thinking now, why not go the whole hog, if I'm about to spend all my savings, anyway:). As said before my budget is around 1.2k,only for the box, is it enough to get a set up, that would allow me to enjoy playing on triple monitors?.

Yeah, I think a 980 may struggle a little too with 1080p 'eyefinity'..

You'd need to be looking at 970 SLI to Max it. Or even 780 SLI as a cheaper alternative.

Personally I'm not a fan of multiscreen gaming. I'd rather have a sharper/smoother experience rather than a 'wider' one, though it is a personal choice.

With this is mind when selecting monitors look for slim bezeled versions, as a lot of manufactures do them for that exact purpose. It will give you a much better experience than having big black bezels in the way.

I7 4790 doesn't have "K" after it so overclocking is crippled.

PSU seems expensive when you look at Superflower 850W at OcUK.
