How many 970s has OcUK sold to date?

Sorry is this sort of question isn't allowed but I'm looking into doing a short report for uni on the uptaking of the 970 and how popular it has been.

So as the title says, what have the figures been like in say the first week? first month? The figures don't have to be exact but a ballpark would be nice. I'm sure Gibbo mentioned it in one of the 9xx threads but after trawling about 20 pages I can't find it.

:D

I'd ask how many refunds they had to do because of issues with them lol

Hardly any, only card that seemed to really be affected by coil whine was the MSI and even then in the poll there was more people who didn't have it or couldn't hear it on theirs.

At least this release wasn't plagued with black screen crashes that really did make things unplayable :p

Just shy of 5000 970's, return rates percentage wise are very low.

The best launch ever to have sold near 5000 of one GPU in just weeks.

The coil whine poll has like less than 100 total voters, with less than half with an issue, so 50 people complaining out of 5000 sold.

A small problem made to look huge because of the internets. ;)

that's quite an impressive number especially if you consider even ocuk competitors have been selling out also, gibbo how does the 980 figures look like in comparison

The poll was reset and thread deleted, so lost all the votes before. That said, unless you get everyone who bought a card to take part, the poll is useless and only there for people that see it. Also not to forget the people who are refused an RMA, so have just walked way and excepted it :)

I just look at the return rates on our system and can see these cards have no issue. If there was an issue the return percentage would be well beyond where it should be, it is actually lower.

It is all blown out of proportion simply because in a matter of 2-3 weeks over 10,000 970's have being sold and shipped in the UK market.

If we had sold 10,000 290's in a same time period, you'd see the same.

Or like wise cards we only say sell 10 of per month you never hear of an issue.

The internet is great but is also very bad, perfect example Porsche 996/997.1 engines all exploding, whereas in reality yes Porsche have an issue but if it effects you well you'd be so unlucky as it is very rare.

The poll became useless when people started trying their cards in other machines and realising the coil whine was actually coming from their Psu's rather than the card and couldn't retract their votes.

I reckon UK has shipped close to 12-15,000 970's in total.

For us 980 is sitting around 3000 units and probably around 8000 being sold in UK.

Its a truly huge success and OcUK has sold more than anyone else which I am very happy about. :)

As such why there is no more of an issue with 970 over any other card.

When you sell 1000's of cards in a very short period of time the internets will get full of people talking about them, good and bad. It is pretty simple really.

I guess there will always be a certain amount of failure rate so the higher the volume sold then more faulty cards, not really a 970 problem just mathematics

Thanks for that Gibbo! Don't suppose you have a comparison to say the 770's sales? or perhaps the GTX 8800's haha?

Yes 970 slaughtered both, even greater than 8800 and 770 combined, that is how successful this launch is!

I never had a problem with black screens, neither did most. It was blown out of proportion with constant threads about it by Team Nvidia.

Known 970s bugs so far:

Coil whine
32GB RAM bug

see this is the same thing as reports of mass coil whine problems, Ive had three 290 cards and none have had black screen problems or any other problems come to think of it.

it cant be just luck because im just not that lucky:D

Dunno about that! I only owned one 290X & it black screened and died a few weeks later. :D
