Which ISP - Torrent Friendley

I've been with sky Fiber pro for the last 11 months, Great service! and getting a decent 68/19 Rock solid!!! As long as you get other packages out with sky normally you'll end up with good packages, eg: half price line rental ... and so on

He he. I do like a torrent (well used to but hardly do any more), it really is work stuff. One of the guys has even found a messaging / file sharing system that he wants to implement that uses torrents. Whats wrong with good on MSN messenger hey ;-) (Does that even exist any more?)

This is why I wasnt fussed on speed, tho saying that Mrs couldn't even stream Eastenders the other night, so I had to download it and that play it. So I might upgrade to Fibre, as the engineer said we have a Fibre thing on the main road so should get at least 25mb download on that! Its not much more on sky to upgrade, I dont believe.

I can check if fibre is available if you like?

Fibre is available if you want to upgrade. Full speed if you want Fibre Pro too.

Thanks Alan

I think it would make sense to change to fibre as its daft slow! It is available but the BT engineer said my line is aluminum at the moment and REALLY needs updating and changing. If they would replace this line when I went to fibre I certainly would sign up for the extra 6 months. Will they change the line if its aluminum? (Ive heard from fiends they will if you winge loudly enough for long enough) but I dont want to have to winge, if they agreed to do it in writing then I would sign up.

Alan rang me and transferred me over to fibre (have to wait again but at least I have a working phone line now). He said I should get between 40-66mb/s on fibre and would guarantee 40mb/s. If I don't get that they will send an engineer out who will upgrade the line if that's what is required.

Il just hope. Alan has been great so far so I am hopeful and did actually say they will garentee 40mb/s rather then the good old "upto". The BT engineer that came out thought I should get at least 25mb/s too.

Just to add information this is my log from last night, any good? Noise and attenuation wise?

SKY%2BTEST.jpg

Im meant to be connected the 14th November and have been garenteed a minimum of 36.1mb according to the letter I have received from sky yesterday.

Sorry to hijack the thread slightly..
I've also got crumbling lines from House -> Cabinet
I'm on BT Infinity/Fibre and get 15Mbps down, 1.2Mbps up.

Realistically, what can I do about getting BT to replace the lines? They probably come to my street of 100 houses 50 times a year (no exaggeration!)

I was thinking about paying for FTTP but it seems the price has gone up..

Just need a ***** to come steal/mash the lines and then we'll be sorted? :D :p

What was your estimated speed? If the speed you are getting is below your estimate then keep calling them out and eventually someone will replace the line. If you're getting your estimate then its unlikely they'll do anything.
