** SAPPHIRE 290X 8GB IS BACK AND LOW LOW PRICE!! **

That's three of us that want the reference cooler now Gibbo and 9 potential 290X 8GB cards with reference coolers that would be sold. Give us a reference 290X 8GB glorious AIB's.

Put a request in. Lets see, they find it odd people want reference cooler again. ;)

And yet I can't see any (copper) blocks for them on the OcUK website...
I didn't say they didn't make them, I said there may be issues with availablity.

Understandable confusion.
You could clarify that it's only because nobody makes anything better for crossfire configurations.

The vapor x is a custom pcb so ref cooler won't fit. No idea if there is space on the ref pcb for 4 more gigs.

Afaik ek only make nickel plexi and nickel acetal variants of low demand custom blocks.

I don't know if I'll get my wrists slapped for this but...more often then not, these types of blocks are easier to get a hold of direct from ek, they're low priority production so large stocks often take months to filter to retailers.

Gotta be done, this card is a serious contender to GTX 980 as in multi-card configurations it will beat the 980 in 4k stuff. We've selling over a 100 4k monitors per week now, so the whole 4k gaming scene for us is really big.

But saying that OcUK have being kings of 4k and 8GB cards, something we've done. :)

Are you seeing a pattern yet? :)

Not trying to be a jerk, but while the 290X is winning five of the seven 4K/quad gpu benchmarks, it's hardly a representative sample, hell two of the benchmarks only have entries for the 290X.

That said though this is an epic deal especially for the price :)

-------------------

Out of interest, does the 8GB card use double capacity RAM chips or does it use twice as many? Because if it's loading the back of the card too like the 6GB GTX780's did then that could cause issues for quad CF :(

Mate you can barely fit two of these things on a RIVE and they get piping hot.

Throw waterblocks in with discount. Lol

If those benchmarks aren't enough, just ask Kaap. :)
