Great.

Mk8 could have fooled me tbh it looked very sharp, nintendos art style really helped that. Seems to always look good. I still need to get mario 3d world

1080P is important because of the camera movement (there some pretty huge in & out zooming), plus 1080P gets you this sort of image quality:

Dat plushie.

Ah, you foolish chaps who think online will be any better than the last 2 games... don't build your hopes up too much as they will be broken.

Seeing MK8 work well online - and let's face it - it DOES work online, gives me a little more confidence, appreciate it's a little more forgiving a game though - not quite so split second. That said - they're pushing the LAN adapter quite hard - I think that tells you all you need to know about how wireless play is going to pan out.

I'm expecting to have to go wired for this game, but I will try wifi first & see how the land lies.

Hopefully the servers will do a nice job of matching/pooling random players up with similar connections/ping.

I don't think anyone is going to be expecting perfect online play.

Just finished watching, nice for them to use the mic eventually.

Should be used in game though, shame. Would love mic in Mariokart, even if its friends only due to the amount of children that no doubt play.

O yeah and using a 3DS as a pad, that's pretty cool :)

Smash looks amazing, I cannot wait! I've held off buying the 3DS version so I can fully enjoy the Wii U version.

just preordered SSBWU with the GC adapter, also may have pre ordered the Captain Falcon Amiibo! :D

I hate the whole Amiibo thing, seems like a stupid money making tactic. I hate myself more, that I'm clearly buying either Link or Yoshi. The Luigi one looks daft, sadly. Bring out a better Luigi one!

will i miss out on any content if I don't buy the Amiibos?

In a way, yes.

From what I understand they basically allow you to 'Level Up' a fighter, improving the moves etc the more you play with them and 'feed' them items.

If you don't have other people to play 'amiibo fights' with then it is probably not as appealing, although you can use them to fight against regular 'non amiibo' characters too. It's currently unclear whether you will be able to take amiibo characters online.

You only need to buy 1 Amiibo to experience the content they offer but even then they don't add much to the core experience that is Smash, so you not missing much unless you really like to grind in games.
Collectors will go nuts for Amiibo, they look quite well made and will make nice decorations for gaming rooms or desks or whatever.
