*** The Official Destiny Thread (now includes 2.0 and TTK) ***

Stupid Stupid system for PVE players. At the very least each faction should have a PVE and PVP vendor who take vanguard and crucible marks respectively.

Yeah agree with this. Vanguard has separate vendors but the other factions only have one. Makes no sense.

It almost as if Bungie expected everyone to be PvP focused.

OK, at level 29 I should know this already but...

If I have some maxed out legendary/exotic armour equipped showing their respective current light level, when I pick up Raid armour or other legendary armour, how do I know the light level potential of the new pieces? (Not the starting level which is made clear)

Basically I want to know what the maxed out light level would be before I have to invest shards etc to find out myself?

I have 2 raid armour pieces now - will they definitely max out with more light than my current non raid gear?

Raid armour will hit 30 light, like exotic armour pieces. Regular legendary armour, from the vendors will only go to 27 light.

Legendary - Max 27 light
Exotic - Max 30 Light
Raid - Max 30 Light

I played crucible yesterday and on my first round did terribly. I came last with a k/d ratio of 0.3.

So when the rewards were dished out what did everyone get? Well everyone got absolutely nothing bar me. Yep I was rewarded with a legendary helmet. Not even mad bro :p

I have had literally the worst primary weapon in like 4 levels, I upgraded it to "shoot slower but more damage" and its an upgrade I cannot take off, the gun is horrendous now, its an auto rifle. Pulling my hear out. I am level 20 and 2 light.

Er... what? Focus Fire is the single best modifier I've seen on an Auto Rifle. I've only seen it on 1 weapon (that isn't Suros Regime) and it was awesome. Doesn't apply to hipfire so spray n pray works and lets you conserve ammo and effectively reduce the need for recoil reduction as the slower rate of fire does that for you.

Yup it basically makes the gun a hybrid of a AR and SR. Less damage than a SR (of the same attack value) but much higher fire rate even when slowed down.

It is enabled on my backup primary (and I can't remember the name of it now...).

I've just got this game, I'm only level 5 but I feel like I'm missing something. I see a lot of NPC's on the tower but nothing is really explained.

What are emblems?
I'm able to harvest stuff, what is it for?
Do all items level up or just greens?
Do stats matter? What should a Hunter go for?
Why do level 25+ players kill all of the level 1-5 mobs?
How do I communicate with other players?

Also any tips on getting good early armour and weapons?

Haha that is a great question Why do level 25+ players kill all of the level 1-5 mobs :D funny thing is that where as in other games you'd take no damage and kill 50 with one hit... they hit you and you take damage. But if you went to visit those hive down in the basement lvl 18 i think but ?? to you just run.

It will most likely be due to bounty missions the complete 6 patrol missions in the Cosmodrone.

Oh and Im a lvl 27 hunter, you may wish to consider warlock or titan for end game stuff raid duties etc it currently stands at Warlock>titan>hunter it seems when looking for 'spots' though this could all change with the buffs and debuffs overtime.

Emblems = the faceplates to your name like a forum banner no effect in game just customisation.

Harvest spin metal, helium coils, relic iron etc all required for higher level armour/weapon upgrades.

Think only green and above have upgradeable parts.

Stats depends on playstyle.

Communication --- unless you are in a fireteam on voice comms you can't unless you are able to fully converse by only point wave and dance :P

So its PSN messages and the joy of the lag they bring. (or xbone messaging if you swing the other way)

Welcome to the bizarre world of Destiny where no-one knows why they're playing :)

Emblems - if you go to Options->Roster it shows you a list of players in the "zone", the emblem affects how they appear on this list.
Harvest - it's for upgrading high level weapons and armour. If you see it, harvest it. It's a pain farming it later.
Items - only green and above level up AFAIK.
Stats - which stats? At level 5 I didn't think equipment had stats on it.
The Bounty system encourages high level players to go back to the newbie zones - you get the same bounties at lvl 30 as you do at lvl 5 i.e. do 6 cosmodrome patrols. It's high on my wishlist for a lvl 20 version of each zone for high level players cos it does kinda suck.
See the Destiny multiplayer thread, add some people, join their fireteam and speak over voicecomms seems to be the easiest way to communicate with players. Don't forget you have four emotes on the D-Pad - Up - Wave, Left - Point, Right - Dance, Down - Sit.

A good tip for weapons/armour *while you're levelling up* would be to look online for the golden chest locations and get them all. There's 5 in each zone.

Point = its there / that way
Wave = over 'ere mate
Dance = yah man we pwned it
Sit down = FFS you done yet?

What more do we need? :)

Thanks for answering the questions. Yeah I was in the Cosmodrone last night trying to level up and doing some bounties and I had to compete against the high levels. Unfortunately there was another high level running around another section of the Cosmodrone super speed killing everything, even the groups I was engaged with, he'd come and wipe them out instantly and loop around the map again as if I was an irrelevance. It was really annoying when I was level 2-3 trying to get used to the game.
