Poll: Student jailed for 9 months for "prank"

Was the sentence:

  • not harsh enough

I agree with the sentence but mainly because they recorded it and seemingly kept hold of the video.

If they had teased her about it for 5 minutes then deleted the video straight away I could brush it off as banter and wouldn't have too much of a problem with it.

I certainly wouldn't want it happening to my girlfriend/daughter/sister, but I would probably be having strong words with said female for getting too drunk and allowing it to happen rather than going out to murder the lad.

Exactly my view. I could understand the funny side of it, and would hope my daughter/ sister could to. But like I said a view posts back, I would hope she learnt from it. Lucky it was only a quick donk on the head, could have been a lot worse.

We had a little discussion over lunch at work about this and surprisingly (or not as the case may be) all five women in our group thought the sentence was way overboard, while they said it was disgusting, none of them thought it was sexual assault, or even assault and two of them thought that it should not have been a matter for the police at all as they thought it was just drunken plebs being daft. On the other hand all of the blokes, except me, thought that he should have been banged up longer and a couple thought that it was akin to raping someone, which didn't go down too well with the ladies and at which point we changed the subject.

Go figure!
I found this quite interesting actually. Go figure indeed.

My wife also thought it was way overboard...I asked her what she would feel and do if it happened to her, and she said one thing she wouldn't do is call the Police...her words were...."probably just kick the daft **** in the nuts"..so there you go.

Some of the female responses I've got really aren't suitable for a family forum. :D All I can say is that two would have led to extreme pain/loss and one to some pleasure for the bad lad. :p

There's plenty of things I'd say/do to my mates that I would never to my mum or sister.

Exactly.

I can't believe people think this is too harsh a punishment. He got his penis out and wacked it against an unknown to him woman's face whilst she was asleep. He then filmed it and showed it to countless people. He clearly went too far.

If it was his best friend (but still a woman) who he had known for years and he knew how she would feel about it then that is wholly different.

Someone else filmed it and showed it to other people. Not the dude with the swinging knob.

Okay so the lesson for those of you who think that whacking your knob into the face of a sleeping girl is just banter is that it, in actual fact, is taken quite seriously, so don't do it, k?

Keep it in your pants you ****ing morons.

Ridiculous sentence. If your gonna get hammered until you pass out around uni lads, don't go crying when they have some harmless fun.

Her own fault.

I hate to use tropes, but this is the definition of victim shaming.

Victim shaming? I would say its saying the woman should take responsibility for her own actions.

Take a friend, don't get so hammered, or leave and go home instead of sleeping around loads of uni lads. Easy options to not end up in a situation where someone can get their shlong out and whack it on your face.

Maybe im less than sympathetic as i've woken up several times in, less than "ideal" circumstances shall we say, but the only person I blame is myself for not drinking more responsibly.

As they say. Live and learn.
