Yet another school shooting in America. There's not much information on it at the moment, but it doesn't appear anyone was killed apart from the gunman (suicide), with just 3 injured. However, the DailyMail seems so think 1 was killed and 5 were injured, so who knows.

I guess we get to see another circular debate on gun control from congress ultimately fizzling out as the media attention fades and resulting in no change. :(

Why would there be change? Any US president trying to push any form of gun control legislation through would be shot down... by Congress

That's my point, it's ridiculous. The right to bear arms was meant to be in defence of one's home with somewhat limited weapons, like muskets. Not the right to keep an assault rifle bought from Walmart. The law is horribly antiquated.

America needs to take up arms, it is the only answer.
I was reading a comment on ********, I think it was in regards to the video showing two brothers being pushed off a platform and onto the railway line.

The comment was something along the lines of Britain's anti gun laws not making our society less violent and how incidents like that wouldn't happen if we were allowed to carry weapons...

Guns are not the problem, its the lower end of humanity that is.. Take away the guns and they will use knives instead.

I don't deny that, but I'd imagine it's a lot harder to do a mass stabbing than it is a mass shooting. Guns just amplify the issue.

When the Constitution was written, the musket was the the state of the art as far as infantry weapons were concerned.

"Under Washington law, a license to carry a handgun is not valid in any of the following places or circumstances, whether it is issued by Washington, or a person is carrying pursuant to a reciprocity between his or her state of license and Washington:

In any public or private elementary or secondary school"

So, they already had a law banning guns from schools...which means law abiding people are unarmed and the only armed person would be someone with intent to break the law anyway.

If you want to ban guns in america, law abiding people hand them in, criminals don't.
Gun crime would probably rise.

BREAKING NEWS, IT'S JUST AS EASY TO KILL SOMEONE 50 METERS AWAY WITH A KNIFE AS IT IS WITH AN AR-15...

Oh hang on. Guns are the issue.

It's the same here, although criminals and mental people can't just walk into Asda and buy an AR-15. I've been to Yorkshire and the majority of people their own a rifle or shotgun, they don't go to schools and wipe out children though. Criminals won't shoot kids because they have nothing to gain, they will hold people up and take their money, but killing people helps nobody in that case. Even low life's are smart enough to know armed robbery is lower on the list than murder. You don't need to hold people up with guns in this country though as the defender won't have a gun to shoot back. In America you risk being shot if you look at someone funny, so if you intend to rob them of their life savings they will blow you away, so you need a gun to get it off them. Then you get a shootout.

The USA is a lost cause as far as gun control goes in my opinion, there's no putting that particular genie back in the bottle and it will always be like the wild west.

I think guns are more deadly than knives, reason being they were primarily created to kill people, knives weren't, also go and hold(or fire) a gun, they are very impressive pieces of engineering and they would be much more likely to give you a power trip, or tip and unstable person over the edge than a knife.

Don't forget that guns make it mentally easier to kill people, stabbing someone to death won't be as easy on the mind as just shooting someone.

i was just talking to one of the guys at work earlier and he invited me to go shooting after work tomorrow. He said the other guys have guns but he rented one last time, but hes going to the store to buy a 9mm after work..

Thats how easy it is over here.

Come again?! i can't recall too many heavily armed mobs roaming the street of Sheffield or any other city or town I've been to recently. Are you sure you've not been watching Heartbeat recently and they've done a few episodes on poaching?

What complete nonsense. A tiny minority of those in Yorkshire own guns, and those that do I'd argue even less actually need them. Bar post control, there's no reason to have a gun in this country in my opinion.
