So I have been getting my hair done at the barbers since I was a boy but now every time I go to the barber I generally ask for a grade 0 on the sides and a 1.5 on the top (yep im thinning out, god damn it) So it is starting to feel like money I am wasting if I could just do this myself.

Does anyone else do this at home? I feel as though I would proper balls it up if I did it myself.

Any tips? shavers etc?

I've shaved my own since my teens. I've actually just got done shaving mine now and I'm about to jump in the shower. \o/

Tips? Go 0 or go home.

Yep. One size all over and the shorter the better. As previously stated, get someone to check you didn't miss any and finish your neck off.

Pretty difficult to get wrong like that

I shave my own hair when I have short, just make sure you have two mirrors so you don't mess the back up...

Me, Buy some Wahl clippers for about £25-30 and if you keep them clean and oiled they will last 15 years (I've just replaced mine from 1995). Never pay for a haircut again!

0 all day long if you're doing it yourself, that way you won't have a mullet on the go.

I was thinking of shaving my head, just cant be bothered with dealing with hair anymore, it's most annoying when i have my motorcycle helmet on.

I'm looking at getting one of these, anyone here have any user experience? Any good?

I had the older version and it was a piece of poo. Don't buy it! With clippers, it's really easy to do your own hair. I did mine for a few years without any trouble. You just need someone to go around your ears and do your neck for you. I hated getting anyone else involved because my gf would do it too soft and then I'd tell her, and from then on it was like she was trying to rip my hair out...same goes for my mum.

No you don't. At least I don't. As someone above mentioned, so long as you have a second mirror to check the back of your head you're good.

Round the ears is just a matter of folding your ears out of the way so you can see what you're doing in the mirror. The neck I just make sure to start from down low and work my way up to the back of my head. Then double check with the mirror.

Cant remember the last time I paid someone to cut my hair. Ive got a Remington set of clippers but threw all the plastic sizing things away. Its a straight 0 all over every couple of weeks and then get the missus to have a quick look to make sure I havnt missed anything.

I've done my own since 2000 or thereabouts....with the same Argos cheap clippers i bought then. Probably saved hundreds of pounds since then :)
