I'm thinking about buying an XB1 but I need a little info from the community -

1. Do I have to pay for online play capability like we had to with the 360 ?

2. Will I be able to do campaign online co-op on the master chief collection ?

3. Will there be a slimmer/sleeker version any time soon like there was with the 360 i.e an "S" version seeing as the current model looks like an early 90's VHS player ?

4. What's the battery life like on the wireless controllers ?

5. Can I upgrade the HDD without voiding the warranty ?

1. Yes

2. Probably. From Google - "Campaign co-op is "supported across all four titles, both online and split-screen."

3. Probably. And it doesn't really look like a VCR, that's a joke from before it even launched. Get the white Sunset Overdrive console if the black bothers you.

4. Amazing, at least in comparison to the DS4. I have a pair of Sanyo Eneloops in my pad and they seem to last absolutely ages (1 month+) but obviously this will vary with use.

Thanks for the reply, It's really only the master chief collection that will be the deal maker for me, If I can do online campaign co-op with a few friends in the states I'll buy it in a heart beat :)

And it really does look like a VCR, I've seen one in person and the resemblance is astounding even in white :p Wouldn't stop be from buying it though if the Halo co-op is possible :)

To confirm, you can play MCC 1-2 players online co op for Halo 1 and 2, Halo 3 and 4 support 4 players online.

Battery life using a play and charge kit is decent enough, seems to be around quoted time of 30 hours.

Also, Id take the size of the X1 now even under load its whisper quiet.

As in it doesnt even sound like its on most of the time.

Yeah I watched a review of it vs the PS4 for thermals and noise, Heat out put around the console *Not the core temp of the internals* for the PS4 was roughly 50'c and noise output was at 52db whereas the XB1 was only at 38'c and 40db, Pretty impressive but I guess that's down to the larger surface area, More vents and such.

Yep, thats purely it, huge fan and heat sink, nothing fancy, clearly wanting to make sure no matter where it is, its running cool enough to not break!

And the power supply brick being external.

My 360 sadly went the way of the dodo because of it over heating, The place I bought it from tried to blame me by saying I put it in to a cupboard with no ventilation but was a little stuck for words when I said I actually stored it on top of my desk with at least 1 foot of space either side for ventilation, Was atrocious for overheating.

Doesn't bother me as I made myself a power brick rack attached to the wall under my desk that is made of metal mesh so it won't over heat :)

I was just saying that the power brick being external would have an effect on the lower temp as well.

I know, Don't see why Sony went with an internal power source TBH, would have made more sense to have it external to reduce temps and noise, Don't think anyone would moan about as it takes up what ? Maybe 8 inches by 3 inches behind your TV :p

Price drop is incoming (again)

Well in the US, and its a temp reduction of $50 over the holiday period. Not sure if this'll reach the UK, it's had a few drops already. I'd personally wait a few weeks before putting money towards an x1 , see what happens..

wasn't it Nintendo that said price drops run the risk of devaluing your system, seems ms dont care about this potentially happening, but anyhow digress.

op might be worth waiting to see what happens on the price front before buying seeing as you only want it for mcc and future halo games

Great time to pick up a XB1, the games on offer really are well ahead of PS4 currently. MS have certainly done a great job since launch.

Get the new sexy white version bundled with Sunset Overdrive, released friday I believe.

Or if CoD is your thing, the limited edition console that is two tone colour and made to look futuristic.

I'm not a white item kind of guy, I prefer my consoles and computery stuff either matte or gloss black, Just wish it was a tad smaller as it's mahoosive :p
