Ebay seller claims same day dispatch

So i ordered an item from ebay Yesterday morning, advert states same day dispatch in big letters on every item they sell, I got an email yesterday to say it had been dispatched. But when i track the item it says "Awaiting courier pickup or parcel dropoff" it still says this today, So its clearly not been dispatched.

Im not even in a rush to get the item but i feel this is misleading, putting same day dispatch in big letters on every advert, marking the item as dispatched on ebay. but the parcel obviously hasn't been dispatched even tho its been assigned a tracking number.

A lot of sellers mark it as "dispatched" when they get their courier booking confirmation simply because they believe "their bit" is done and now it's over to the courier, despite it being in their possession still. It's to ensure they meet their 1 day dispatch policy to keep their high ratings etc

Unless he's dispatched it via a guaranteed next day service then there isn't really much you can do unfortunately. If he has, and it doesn't turn up today, then go ahead and leave him negative feedback (if this is even still possible?) or request a postage refund :p

Same day dispatch and guaranteed next day delivery?
If it's just the dispatch then well that bit's done, it could turn up a week later but the end of the day it's still been dispatched the same day

Not much you can do now but wait. If that status hasn't changed by the end of the day you could always email him.

It's quiet possible to have same day dispatch and next day delivery.

I ordered something last night at 8pm, dispatched soon after and due for delivery in about an hour. If the seller just states same day dispatch but not next day then not much you can do.

After a parcel arrived the other day, I got 2 emails, one saying it was dispatched and the other saying when it was going to be delivered. My point being, I don't think everyone updates the tracking info like they're supposed to.

What has the seller said when you asked them?

Oh wait, you probably didn't.

No i haven't asked them,I am waiting to see if when it the tracking updates It gives a time when the parcel was collected. That way i will know for sure if it was dispatched the same day or the tracking was just just slow to update.

I am not even in a rush for the parcel. But the fact that everyone of their items has "SAME DAY DISPATCH" in capitals in every advert. but instead of dispatching the items they just "book" them in for collection with the courier that clearly misleading because the item hasn't been dispatched.

The same item is 70p cheaper from another seller, the only reason i choose this one was because of the same day dispatch. Not that i am in a rush for it but i thought for 70p ill go with the same day dispatch one.

Get a life, same day or not who cares? Your not in a rush but paid 70p more, why don't you cancel your purchase and buy one that's cheaper. Clearly your so wound up about it.

had this very issue yesterday,

was looking for a new brodit mount found a seller proclaiming sameday dispatch. Order in the next x hours for delivery by tues 28th oct. and guess what, no mount in the post today.

i'm sure i'll live with it not coming till tomorrow but still companies saying stuff like this to get sales over others is pretty poor considering I don't even have a dispatch email yet :(.

crappy feedback awaits my seller

??

My items i sell say same day dispatch.

I then drop them all off at 7PM @ my local Myhermes Drop off shop.

Unfortunately the parcels wont be collected till the next day, BUT i DID dispatch them the same day....

Many many sellers do the same.

Ebay's "Delivered by what ever date" Is stupid. as it doesn't account for how long delivery company's can take. They see Royal mail 1st class as a 1-2 day, where infact its a 1-3 but can take 7 days.

if you leave that seller poor feedback then you sir are a plank. How can the seller be held to blame for a delivery agents slowness?

Shouldn't advertise a delivery date then?

Or if they do, then should make sure they use a time-guaranteed delivery service and offer a postage refund to the buyer if they don't deliver their advertised service.

Then claim a refund from them - a quick google shows that you can claim 50% of the costs back (although it should be 100% imo) if it doesn't arrive by the stated time.

funnily enough despite offering same day dispatch I've just this minute had my dispatch email for said item arrive in my inbox.

He doesnt - its the crappy ebay system thats adds in these stupid dates - take 1st class for example - it will generate a date saying it will get delivered on purchase day plus 1 (if set at same day dispatch). But royal mail doesnt guarantee next day delivery unless you cough up the £6.30 odd rate and only deliver next day with 1st class at a rate of around 93%. That means the seller is sitting on 7% of the deliveries not arriving on time as designed by the ebay system. Its a complete joke of a system. Amazon have it nailed if you ask me.

Also OP did you meet the sellers cut off time for same day dispatch - many have them set but are quite early i.e midday.
