Job Interview

The prospects would have to be excellent to justify a 10k pay drop, even in your relatively fluid financial situation. It may take you a number of years to skill back up to the level of pay you're at now. That said, if the prospects are that good and you feel that there will be more opportunities available following an initial period of training/learning... that's something you need to weigh up carefully.

1. They wouldn't have offered you an Interview if they didn't think you were capable of doing the role. They will train you on the areas you need help with.

not necessarily - though the interview itself might provide more clarity there.. it isn't always clear from a CV alone exactly what level of experience people have

@OP - I wouldn't worry about the probation period thing, as long as you put the effort in it is unlikely for people not to get through probation. Basically you'd usually have to have either lied a lot in the interview about what you can do or just turned out to be completely lazy when starting for you to not get through probation.

Have you accounted that my current position is only contract basis?

£10k pay drop to go permanent isn't much (unless salary is very low to begin with).

Bit weird worrying about probation period if you are currently contracting, as it is almost like a probation period that never ends.
