Has to be at least 120 hertz for me.
DisplayPort 1.3 is meant to be able to do 4K at 120Hz.......i dont think display port can do 144hz @ 4k and it took 5 years for the last revision to come out, given that DP1.3 is literally only out this month your going to be waiting a long time.
if you play 4k bluerays on this you will have black bars at the top and sides aswell !
4K is 4096x2160 (1.9:1), so yes, anything shot at that res would have no black bars if shown on a 4K monitor. But if something has been shot at 2.35:1 (21:9, Anamorphic Scope), you'd have black bars. See below. What are these 4k bluerays you speak of?
Last I checked it wasn't even confirmed if the 4K spec would be 10bit or 12bit colour. Movies are shot at 4096x2160 so there should be no black bars.
Crikey. This is expensive/overpriced.
Could someone explain why I would pay £1k for this monitor, when I can get a 16:9 ratio monitor (with slightly lower resolution), for half the price?
At this price LG cannot be serious about selling many of these monitors.
This is a genuine question.
This model has an IPS panel. The cheaper models use TN panels which can't come close when it comes to colour consistency and hence accuracy. Plus this model features a wide colour gamut. It has completely different capabilities besides just resolution.
Maybe you will agree with me here but I think 1k for this is exceptional value, people seem to be a bit unrealistic with how much a decent IPS panel cost, I mean DELL 30" which is a much older panel is still over £800 and selling well still.
I absolutely agree. I don't think some people realise that the cheaper models use TN whereas this is IPS. And the colour gamut is a bonus in my book (especially for future 4K content!)
Yep.
Also because I don't 100% trust LG, can you confirm this LG truly is a one panel solution mate and not two stitched together?
Just for me this LG seems to good be true at this price considering how expensive the DELL 32" is which is two panels stitched together like the Asus?
Yeah it is SST so it is just a single panel and reports in Windows as a single screen. The OcUK price really is insanely good at the moment and even the LG RRP is strangely low.![]()
Yeah they suggested to me £1299, what RRP do you have m8?
It was ~£1300 as well. Even that seems decent though, in my opinion. I guess I'm just comparing it to the IGZO models like the Dell which seem to be more expensive but inferior. Just seems like a solid and unique product with a nice price tag. Obviously £1000 is even more awesome. Have you been given any idea about the availability/price of the Samsung U32D970Q yet incidentally? It's the closest match to the LG for those who want the 16:9 ratio really.
