Will UKIP win its first seat in parliament tonight?

The Tories are far more likely to have a coalition with Labour than UKIP!
Nothing could be more damaging to the Tories than a coalition with UKIP.

But keep dreaming and vote UKIP, that way Labour are much more likely to get in!;)

Ah the old condescending tone, you're views a prehistoric. But keep dreaming you old dinosaur ;)

Please go away ukip trash!

What a smart, wonderful and well constructed post! I have been transformed and enlightened! Where's the Labour party website?

Just a question, do you believe David Cameron when he says we'll have a 2017 referendum? Or do you not want one at all?

I don't want one because I don't trust the voters of this country not to do something monumentally stupid.

So you know more and you're far more intelligent than the general public? wow, i don't even have to say anything, your superiority complex is plain for everyone to see

Good article about what one of our EU partners is up to. Remember that we're powerless to stop people and companies from that country operating within the UK.

The point UKIP are now making is that they will be powerless too even if they get in power. Its too late.

the UK has fully open borders with the supposed criminal checks on people not being carried out with any true intent. Forget the bit of water between us and mainland Europe and its scary to think hundreds of thousands of criminals convicted of serious crimes can in most cases walk through a very big administrative cut in the wire fence. They obviously didn’t care as much about committing serious offences in their own country, does anyone think they will at least consider or care more once they are in ours ?

Mods - Can we merge the two UKIP threads? I find myself having the same conversation with the same person across two threads

There is a correlation between the volume that people make their arguments at, and how much they actually know about the subject, yes.

Kneejerk reactions based on misconceptions are no way to form policy.

Looks like UKIP were right about foreign aid being used for corrupt purposes. Who knew? Literally everyone except senior politicians and their useful idiots.

come on they knew. Go watch some episodes of yes minister and come back ;)

the white hall officials and back office bureaucrats do the real work, famous faced politicians are just the 'friendly' delivery method.

much like any company where the managers/ceo's are the face of the organisation.

True about the ministers not doing much.

Senior ministers barely do anything in their office. The private secretaries read papers they are asked to sign to see if they are OK to sign or need amending, and every time they take a phone call or have a meeting with another minister (UK or otherwise), they are given a brief, which nowadays, reads pretty much like a script. Same in parliament as well.

I never understood why nationalists and right wing separatists insist on using "liberal" as a pejorative term to bash everyone else with. "Liberal" by definition describes someone who is free from bigotry, believes in progress, tolerance and equality. The best Nigel's supporters can hope for at the moment is that UKIP is liberal right wing party themselves? Without that word UKIP would be just National Front with Poundstretcher logo.
