I have not paid a great deal of attention to this but have read some articles and below seem some of the pertinent issues.
People say bad things on line - People by nature do. They also do in real life behind your back. Get over it
People make threats on line? Not acceptable. Nor would it be in real life. They should be punished by law
Online gaming sites MUST speak out about this. No-one MUST do anything. It is up to them what they report which will be based on their readers interest. If as a reader you don't feel their content represents your interests, don't go there and feel free to make your opinion known.
Someone slept with reviewers to get favourable reviews. Welcome to the real world where sex is used for personal gain. Why would one industry be different? No, its not ethical but really, did thousands flock out to buy this game, misled by reviews, and feel hard done by because they would not have bought it otherwise?
Women are portrayed as sexual objects in games. On the whole this is largely true. As they are in certain movie generes including mainstream and TV and in music. This is because it sells and that is because it is what the consumer wants. If you don't like it feel free to produce or consume an alternative. It took a long time for the independent, non-sexualised woman to become popular in music but they are now
This is an important feminist issue and no one is listening. That is because they are not interested. Get over it. Stuffing it down peoples throat won't make them any more interested. I'll buy a game because I think I will enjoy playing it. The portrayal of any female characters in it has no bearing on my decision. Neither has the portrayal of male characters, ethnic groups, religions, dogs, their favourite graphic card or phone etc. If it bothers you, don't buy it. Feel free to tell people this but don't be upset when they don't care.
