Been looking into crossfiring and was looking for a bit of advice...

First, I want to crossfire the card in my sig with...

Would this work? I understand that I would have to either downclock my current card or overclock the new card.

Second, would my Corsair AX860 have enough grunt to power both cards? I have a 4.2GHz OC @ 1.22V, and 2 HDD's and an SSD.

Third, what would be the sort of 'maximum' resolution monitor I could upgrade to so that I could run everything maxed out and 60FPS?

I know I could sell up and go to a more powerful card but I like the idea crossfire and want to give it a go.

Cheers in advance!

Are you able to fit the DCUII in the lower slot? Being a triple slotter, you'll have a minimal gap if it's at the top.

Other than that, you're good to go. The i5 might be a a slight bottleneck in some scenarios, but I wouldn't be too concerned.

Oh, dual slot. Cool then.

Might be less advantageous in games that utilize extra threads like BF4/Crysis 3. I found that going from an i5 to an i7 with xfire helped in those examples.
It's not the end of the world though :)

I have an 850W that's going to power 2X 280's and I have 2SSD's, i5 @ 4.7GHZ :D, Only down side you will have is it fitting in the case side by side, which is my concern as well :p

We are both going to experience the same thing, so...

Go for it :)

The only real difference you'll notice with an i5 to an i7 is multi threaded games.. Games like Skyrim love Crossfire & Sli not an i7.

If you can get that i5 to 4.7 you'll be even better

Without an ENB, you don't need xfire. With an ENB, you have to jump through a hell of a lot of hoops to get it running properly, and even then you're lucky if it does.

All this = Does not love crossfire :p

Let us know how you get on when you're actually running xfire :)

So like getting Skyrim working with lots of mods without ENB then? haha:D

Even without ENB and tons of mods I used to get frame rate drops in some areas to 50fps in the bigger towns, Riften is the worst!

I can't wait :D, I just hope the seller is reliable and the card is good

Getting it working with plenty of mods is pretty easy in my experience. It is a bit of a learning curve though and just requires a bit of research first.

In a game like skyrim, 50fps is hardly game breaking. It's not like it's a twitch fps.

:D I have a similar thing with temps. Even if it makes no real difference to anything, there's a line I just won't cross out of principle :o

I remember spending hundreds upon hundreds of pounds to fix a computer problem just because it had the odd stutter in one game.
