Win 8.1 freezes on first boot?

Every time I start my computer up it will freeze at the little spinny wheel. If I hit restart it starts second time no problems. Can anyone suggest what I can look at to resolve the problem?

There have been no hardware or software changes recently but I have moved house but was careful moving it as I took all my PC equipment myself.

Try disabling fast boot up on Win8/8.1,http://winaero.com/blog/how-to-disable-or-enable-fast-startup-in-windows-8-1/ .

Also check Event Viewer and Reliability History(that's in Action Centre) for any issues.

I have exactly the same problem.

I even removed my ATI graphics card and drivers thinking it was that.

I am thinking of doing a clean install, because the other day my PC crashed, as it does randomly and I lost an Open Office database file.

It's not your AMD drivers,I've those installed on my Win8.1 PC with no issues.

Some things you can try like run error check on your HD,memory check as well.

Also check for malware/viruses ie download and run Malwarebytes anti-malware (free version).

I've been having the same problems recently as well.

It was stick on the home screen after logging in for around 5-10mins or until I restart
