I walked into every so-called mens clothing store in Brent Cross shopping centre. For a start, half of them lied as they aren't mens clothing stores; they sell kids clothes for the current weak strain of twenty-something males who haven't had their marbles drop yet and have the waist of Kate Moss. How can a 20 year old who'd fit into a size 6 dress claim to be a man?

There's no bloody shop that sells gear for men in their thirties. I'm not fat, just fully grown. 5'11" and a 34" waist, and I've now got two choices for new casual clothing: fight to get into jeans so tight I wouldn't be able to walk properly, or dress like a WW2 veteran courtesy of Marks and Spencer.

I'll just have to keep wearing suit trousers, as they seem to be the only thing out there that isn't too young or too old...

I am 20 something.
I could fit into a size 6 (women's sizing) dress.
I am 5ft 8 and weigh 9 stone.

Am I not a man then? You have to be the average fatty (like you, man) to be classed as a male now?

Jesus.

Thirty and above gives many men a problem: you are probably too old for current fashions, yet still not old enough to not give a damn.

You're 5'8 and 9 stone, that makes you a woman.

That is correct. Fitting into a womens dress does make you a woman.

Well there's no question of you having a boomstick, but if you're the same size as the average teenage girl then you're probably not going to appeal to the average woman as she generally likes a man to be taller and bigger than herself.

Incidentally, according to BMI we're both normal weight. I'm near to the point where it would class me as overweight, but haven't quite crossed over. You're not far off being underweight. I weigh 141% of your weight though, so I can't put on the gear that the likes of Hollister are flogging for you.

I am 5ft 8in, size 30 waist and 10st 11lb and consider myself small for a man. Meaning no disrespect but 9st is not really grown male size.

I know what the OP means though. Even now if I try to put on any trendy trousers I usually can't fit into them. They are definitely made for kids (I am mid 40s so not really their target customer).
