Hi,
i was wondering if any of you have had any experience with Lenovo products?
mainly laptops.
I was looking at getting my old man one for Christmas as his is ancient and takes about 3 days to boot up. He don't need anything fancy.. but i notice you can get quite decent spec'd laptops from Lenovo pretty cheap compared to other, more established brands.

thanks :)

Lenovo are a very established brand - one of the biggest in the industry in fact. Who are you considering as more established?

Edit - They are also the 4th Computer company in the fortune 500 list behind Apple, Fujitsu and HP.

If you Google "best laptop brands 2014" you'll find a review that puts them as second best laptop brand after Apple.

They are Chinese and absolutely massive. Personally, I would buy a Lenovo if I could see one I liked.

Rgds

The only Lenovos I would buy myself would be their T series or the X1 Carbon. Maybe the W series if I needed a workstation. I don't see much difference between their lower end ranges to any of the other manufacturers who adhere to the shotgun method of retailing.

Personally i had never heard of Lenovo untill about 2 years ago.. so i thought they were relatively new in the market, which is why i classed others such as acer, asus, toshiba etc.. as more established.
So i'm guessing they'll be a good shout when it comes to cheaper priced laptops.

They were relatively unknown until they bought out IBM's manufacturing division for laptops in 2005, hence how they ended up with the Thinkpad line and brand.

Great machines, until something goes wrong. Which for me was very often. 3 - 6 week turn around on repairs and sometimes the laptop came back not fixed. They are seriously lackluster on aftersales.

May have improved since earlier this year but would go with HP everytime.

I have a Y500 SLI gaming laptop I've had for 19 mths. Very pleased with it. Only draw back I've found is they have a whitelist that limits upgrades. The stock WiFi card was terrible and had to unlock the BIOS prior to upgrading, a somewhat daunting task!
